Railway traffic disturbance management by means of control strategies applied to operations in the transit system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Railway systems in metropolitan areas support a high density of daily traffic that is exposed to different types of disturbances in the service. An interesting topic in the literature is to obtain action protocols in the presence of contingencies which ...

From Food to Power: Hydrogel Thermoelectrics for Ingestible Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a fully edible thermoelectric–electrochromic platform that harvests heat from food and converts it into a visible color change. N‐type and p‐type hydrogel thermoelectric generators connected in series power anthocyanin‐based electrochromic displays, demonstrating the feasibility of safe, biodegradable, ingestible systems for on‐food ...

Observation of critical scaling in spin glasses below Tc using thermoremanent magnetization

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics
Time-dependent thermoremanent magnetization (TRM) studies have been instrumental in probing energy dynamics within the spin glass phase. In this paper, we review the evolution of the TRM experiment over the last half century and discuss some aspects ...

Waiting lists, waiting times and admissions: an empirical analysis at hospital and general practice level [PDF]

open access: yes
We report an empirical analysis of the responses of the supply and demand for secondary care to waiting list size and waiting times. Whereas previous empirical analyses have used data aggregated to area level, our analysis is novel in that it focuses on ...

Minimizing the Total Cost in the Out Patient Department (OPD) of a Multispecialty Hospital [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Waiting lines are experienced in out daily activities. Waiting in line or queue causes inconvenience to individuals (Patients) and economic costs to firms and organizations. Providing too much service capacity to operate a system involves excessive cost.

An Edible H2O2 Biosensor for Gastrointestinal Metabolites and Peroxidase Enzyme Quantification

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We present an edible biosensor for gastric fluid analysis that integrates a caffeic acid–horseradish peroxidase redox system into an edible electrolyte‐gated transistor. The device enables rapid, low‐volume detection of H2O2 and, with minimal modification, metabolites and enzyme activity in simulated gastrointestinal conditions.

Adaptive Multilevel Collaborative Passenger Flow Control in Peak Hours for a Subway Line

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematical Physics, 2020
Due to contradiction of large-scale passenger demand and limited transportation capacity, the passengers who cannot be transported away in time accumulate and congest in stations. To ensure travel safety, improve travel efficiency, and ameliorate waiting
