A Directed Continuous Time Random Walk Model with Jump Length Depending on Waiting Time
In continuum one-dimensional space, a coupled directed continuous time random walk model is proposed, where the random walker jumps toward one direction and the waiting time between jumps affects the subsequent jump.

Numerical Modeling of Photothermal Self‐Excited Composite Oscillators
We present a numerical framework for simulating photothermal self‐excited oscillations. The driving mechanism is elucidated by highlighting the roles of inertia and overshoot, as well as the phase lag between the thermal moment and the oscillation angle, which together construct the feedback loop between the system state and the environmental stimulus.

Waiting times and socioeconomic status. Evidence from Norway [PDF]
We investigate whether socioeconomic status, measured by income and education, affects waiting time when controls for severity and hospital specific conditions are included.

Muscle Control of an Extra Robotic Digit
This study compares muscle‐ and movement‐based control for operating a supernumerary robotic thumb. While movement control performs better in the proposed tasks, muscle‐based (EMG) control promotes broader motor learning. The results highlight the promise and challenges of using biosignals for human augmentation, offering new insights into intuitive ...

Perception of Waiting Time at Transit Stops and Stations
Waiting time in transit travel is often perceived negatively and high-amenity stops and stations are becoming increasingly popular as strategies for mitigating transit riders’ aversion to waiting.

Multimodal Human–Robot Interaction Using Human Pose Estimation and Local Large Language Models
A multimodal human–robot interaction framework integrates human pose estimation (HPE) and a large language model (LLM) for gesture‐ and voice‐based robot control. Speech‐to‐text (STT) enables voice command interpretation, while a safety‐aware arbitration mechanism prioritizes gesture input for rapid intervention.

Digital Taxi Stands: Informed Choice Reduces Waiting Time
We have investigated waiting times for taxis at the airport taxi stand at Oslo Airport Gardermoen, under two different regulatory systems, one allowing taxis to wait at a taxi stand directly in front of the airport and at a near depot and one only ...
