Enhanced Ferroelectric Phase Formation via Local Structure Modification in the Pre‐Crystalline State of Hafnium Zirconium Oxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Hafnium zirconium oxide thin films are grown using plasma‐enhanced atomic layer deposition with the addition of an atomic layer annealing (ALA) step. ALA leads to a change in the short‐range structure of the deposit and encourages formation of the ferroelectric Pca21 phase. The result is wake‐up‐free performance with films exposed to ALA.

A study on the cell structure and the performances of wall-flow diesel particulate filter

open access: yesEnergy, 2012
As for the recent PM regulations, a diesel particulate filter (DPF) has been one of the important aftertreatment technologies. Although the square cell structure of DPF is a generally worldwide standard, several cell designs have been proposed to reduce the pressure loss due to the soot loading as well as the ash deposition in DPF.

Generalized Darcy’s Law in Filtration Theory

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
We study the hydrodynamics of flow in a porous medium modeling the grain filling in filters. Using the lattice approximation, we derive the structure of the current in porous media and obtain the transverse diffusion coefficient D which proves to be ...

Embedded Direct Ink Writing of Thermoset and Elastomeric Polymers via Frontal Polymerization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Embedded frontal polymerization direct ink writing (FP‐DIW) combines frontal ring‐opening metathesis polymerization with embedded 3D printing to decouple deposition from curing. A yield‐stress support bath stabilizes low‐viscosity inks, while on‐demand thermal initiation enables controlled front propagation. This approach expands the accessible feature

Genetically Programmed Shape‐Morphing of Engineered Living Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, bacterial and mammalian engineered living materials (ELMs) are presented, in which living cells direct genetically programmed and enzymatically mediated shape‐morphing. The resulting deformation and shape‐recovery can be actuated in a genetically controlled manner by an ELM incorporating out‐of‐equilibrium counteracting biochemical reactions with

Mechanical origins of inferior vena cava filter tilt and migration: The interplay of clot burden and exercise-induced pulsatility

open access: yesResults in Engineering
Inferior vena cava (IVC) filters are prone to mechanical complications, including fracture, migration, tilt, and wall perforation; however, the underlying physiological mechanisms remain obscure.
