Improvement of wall thickness uniformity of thick-walled polystyrene shells by density matching
Chemical Engineering Journal, 2014Abstract The uniformity of wall thickness is one of the hardest specifications to fulfill for thick-walled polystyrene (PS) shells prepared by microencapsulation. To improve the wall uniformity of thick-walled PS shells, both density matching between the inner water phase (W1) and the oil phase (O), and that between the W1/O compound droplets and the

Dynamics of thick domain walls
Physical Review D, 1989The dynamics of thick domain walls are studied in the context of the classical field theory for a real scalar field. We treat, by numerically solving the equation of motion for the scalar field, the collision of two plane-symmetric walls as well as the collapse of walls that have spherical and cylindrical symmetry.

Reproducibility of airway wall thickness measurements
SPIE Proceedings, 2010Airway remodeling and accompanying changes in wall thickness are known to be a major symptom of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), associated with reduced lung function in diseased individuals. Further investigation of this disease as well as monitoring of disease progression and treatment effect demand for accurate and reproducible ...

Ventricular Wall Thickness in the Fetal Dog
American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1979SUMMARY Ventricular wall thickness of 2150-to 60-day-old canine fetuses was determined by direct measurement with calipers. Measurements were made of the left and right ventricular walls and of the interventricular septum, perpendicular to the apico-basilar axis at the location just below the aortic valve, and midway between the coronary sulcus and the

In parallel with old Mediterranean civilizations, Eastern-European civilizations were formed. In the areas of Eastern Europe, where woods were growing abundantly, marshy soils and heavier conditions for settlement occurred, structures were generally built in wood, including prestigious structures. Relaxation of Thick-Walled Cylinders and Spheres
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1982Using the nonlinear creep law proposed by Soderberg, closed-form solutions are derived for the relaxation of incompressible thick-walled spheres and cylinders in plane strain. These solutions involve series expressions which, however, converge very quickly. By simply ignoring these series expressions, extremely simple approximate solutions are obtained.

Test of extended thick-walled through-diaphragm connection to thick-walled CFT column
Steel and Composite Structures, 2016The strength and stiffness of the steel beams to concrete-filled tubular columns connections are significantly reduced if the thick-walled components are used. However, the thick-walled tubes used for columns can largely reduce the demand for space and increase the strength-to-weight ratio.
