"Design Warehouse": a "data warehouse" for computer aided design

Proceedings of the Third Basque International Workshop on Information Technology - BIWIT'97 - Data Management Systems, 2002
This paper describes a new information system concept for CAD, called Design Warehouse. It is inspired from the data warehouse model of W.H. Inmon (1995, 1996). This new concept is the result of an operational application using an object-oriented database in a spatial industrial context.

Design of Warehouse Contol System for Automated Warehouse Environment

2016 5th IIAI International Congress on Advanced Applied Informatics (IIAI-AAI), 2016
In the warehouse, typical logistics software of the warehouse is Warehouse Management System(WMS) and Warehouse Control System(WCS). WCS is different from WMS, and WCS aims to manage a broad range of material handling equipment in the warehouse. We analyzed key functions and limitations of existing WSC and suggest a new architecture for WCS. To address

Data Warehouse Modeler: a CASE tool for warehouse design

Proceedings of the Thirty-First Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences, 2002
Data warehouses have become an instant phenomenon in many large organizations that deal with a massive amount of information. Drawing on the experiences from the systems development field, we surmise that an effective CASE tool will enhance the success of warehouse implementations.

Towards data warehouse design

Proceedings of the eighth international conference on Information and knowledge management, 1999
This paper focuses on data warehouse modelling. The conceptual model we defined, is based on object concepts extended with specific concepts like generic classes, temporal classes and archive classes. The temporal classes are used to store the detailed evolutions and the archive classes store the summarised data evolutions.

A hierarchical approach to warehouse design

International Journal of Production Research, 2016
AbstractThe design of large complex systems, such as warehouses, requires multiple experts and analyses as well as methods to organise and integrate their knowledge. While there are many models for optimising individual aspects of warehouses, there is not, today, a comprehensive design methodology that incorporates and supports all of the design ...

An on-line tutor for warehouse design

SMC 2000 Conference Proceedings. 2000 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics. 'Cybernetics Evolving to Systems, Humans, Organizations, and their Complex Interactions' (Cat. No.00CH37166), 2002
Even though the methodologies for warehouse design are taught in traditional industrial engineering programs, students often find it difficult to develop the skills necessary to complete actual designs. The difficulty in translating the textbook knowledge of using the analytical and mathematical tools for design stem from their lack of experience in ...

Data warehouse architecture and design

2008 IEEE International Conference on Information Reuse and Integration, 2008
A data warehouse is attractive as the main repository of an organization’s historical data and is optimized for reporting and analysis. In this paper, we present a data warehouse the process of data warehouse architecture development and design. We highlight the different aspects to be considered in building a data warehouse.

A data warehouse for designed experiments

Computational Statistics, 2000
Many organizations now record data from series of experiments. These data will often have been very costly to collect, but they can provide a valuable resource for future research. For example, in agriculture, they may be used to construct decision support systems or to study such issues as sustainability or climate change. In industry they may be used

Incremental Design of a Data Warehouse

Journal of Intelligent Information Systems, 2000
A data warehouse (DW) can be seen as a set of materialized views defined over remote base relations. When a query is posed, it is evaluated locally, using the materialized views, without accessing the original information sources. The DWs are dynamic entities that evolve continuously over time.

On Uncertainty and Data-Warehouse Design

2004
In this paper we informally and formally defined what we mean by uncertain- ignorant information in relational databases and data warehouses. We classify proposed extensions to the relational data model that can represent and retrieve incomplete information.
