The estimation of oxidative stress markers and apoptosis in right atrium auricles cardiomyocytes of patients undergoing surgical heart revascularisation with the use of warm blood cardioplegia.

open access: yesFolia Histochemica et Cytobiologica, 2010
Oxidative stress markers and apoptosis were estimated during elective surgical heart revascularization. Eight patients with good ejection fraction underwent coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) with the use of warm blood cardioplegia.

Heart transplantation outcomes with donation after circulatory death in patients with left ventricular assist device

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 5, Page 3333-3342, October 2025.
Abstract Aims Donation after circulatory death (DCD) has emerged as a strategy to increase the donor pool for heart transplantation (HT). Left ventricular assist device (LVAD) patients represent a discrete and unique population. We sought to explore the early outcomes of DCD‐HT compared with donation after brain death (DBD) HT in LVAD patients. Methods

Hypothermic Oxygenated Machine Perfusion (HOPE) During Total Vascular Exclusion With Veno‐Venous Bypass for Giant Hepatic Hemangioma Resection

open access: yesArtificial Organs, Volume 49, Issue 10, Page 1592-1595, October 2025.
Hypothermic oxygenated machine perfusion (HOPE) during total vascular exclusion with veno‐venous bypass for major hepatic resection is a safe procedure and could help to reduce ischemia–reperfusion lesions and related complications.

Saline‐based modified del Nido cardioplegia versus multidose St. Thomas cardioplegia in canine mitral valve repair: A randomized controlled trial

open access: yesVeterinary Surgery, Volume 54, Issue 7, Page 1366-1377, October 2025.
Abstract Objective To compare the utility of a saline‐based modified del Nido (mDN) cardioplegia solution with a conventional institutional technique (multidose St. Thomas blood cardioplegia) for mitral valve repair (MVR) in dogs. Study design Prospective, randomized, open‐label trial.

Evaluation of Integrated Arterial Filter Oxygenator vs. External Arterial Filters on Clinical Outcomes and Neurocognitive Function in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery: A Prospective Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT)

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 8, Issue 5, May 2025.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Innovative advancements in cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) configurations, such as surface coating, blood filtration, and miniaturization, aim to reduce gaseous microemboli (GME) that contribute to embolic organ damage, particularly neurological dysfunction.

Clinical Outcomes of Mitral Valve Repair in Dogs With Pulmonary Hypertension Secondary to Myxomatous Mitral Valve Disease

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Volume 39, Issue 3, May/June 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Myxomatous mitral valve disease (MMVD) can cause pulmonary hypertension (PH). Mitral valve repair (MVR) has been described as a surgical treatment option for MMVD, but the benefit of MVR when PH is present is unknown. Hypothesis/Objectives To investigate the change in echocardiographic variables and long‐term outcomes of dogs with ...

A Rare Case of Both Cardiac Myxoma and Left Coronary AVF, Diagnosis, and Management

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 4, April 2025.
ABSTRACT We present the case of a 62‐year‐old woman who was diagnosed with both cardiac myxoma and left coronary AVF, and we go on to discuss the course of her treatment and the outcome. In conclusion, this case study highlights the rare coexistence of an atrial myxoma and a congenital coronary arteriovenous fistula in a 65‐year‐old woman.
