A hybrid modelling framework that applies feature engineering using the KNN model to estimate high‐resolution air temperature across Israel by integrating meteorological and environmental predictors. ABSTRACT The increasing global planetary temperature, combined with rapid urbanisation, underscores the urgent need to evaluate human exposure to air ...

Management of groundwater salinization under a climate change scenario in an aridarea
Most future scenarios for water resources are predicting water scarcity, with a decrease in the amount of precipitation and limitation on groundwater recharge for the next five decades. In arid and semi- arid areas, the water quality is a great problem

Reconstruction of the East Asian monsoon variability since the mid-Holocene from the Pearl River estuary, southern China [PDF]
The principal aim of this thesis is to reconstruct East Asian Monsoon (EAM) variability during the mid-Holocene, developing a relatively new proxy of bulk organic carbon isotopic signature (δ13C).

Athens' climate according to Thorthwaite is stable despite warming trends. Athens' climate remains semi‐arid and mesothermal over 165 years. Strong increases in evapotranspiration and stable precipitation were found. Soil water storage capacity affects water deficits but not aridity type.

Vegetation and climate history during the last glacial-interglacial cycle at Lake Van, eastern Anatolia [PDF]
This study investigated the first continuous high-resolution pollen record from Lake Van, eastern Anatolia that encompasses the last glacial-interglacial cycle (~130 ka BP).

On the Temporal Variability of Precipitation in Iraq: Arid‐Wet Years and Extreme Events
Daily and monthly precipitation data in Iraq display high seasonal to interdecadal variability, with arid and wet years that have very distinct seasonal cycles. Monthly rainfall is significantly correlated with the Indian Ocean Dipole. Extreme events are identified and classified as belonging to four different weather patterns, allowing to obtain daily

Stratigraphic analyses of late-quaternary sediments from S’Albufera, North East Mallorca, Spain [PDF]
1. Much of the environmental history of the western Mediterranean has been inferred from records obtained throughout a wider region. Very little work has been conducted on Mallorca.

The NSW and Australian Regional Climate Modelling Version 2.0 (NARCliM2.0) builds on NARCliM1.0 and 1.5 to deliver improved regional climate simulations. This study provides the first comprehensive evaluation of NARCliM2.0 against its predecessors, assessing individual model skill in reproducing mean and extreme climate.

Seasonal and episodic moisture controls on plant and microbial contributions to soil respiration
Moisture inputs drive soil respiration (SR) dynamics in semi-arid and arid ecosystems. However, determining the contributions of root and microbial respiration to SR, and their separate temporal responses to periodic drought and water pulses, remains ...

The spread of non‐native species
ABSTRACT The global redistribution of species through human agency is one of the defining ecological signatures of the Anthropocene, with biological invasions reshaping biodiversity patterns, ecosystem processes and services, and species interactions globally.
