Cold-formed steel joints with partial warping restraint

open access: yesMagazine of Civil Engineering, 2021
The article investigates the influence of joints on the warping torsion of cold-formed steel bars. The modern warping torsion theory suggests cold-formed steel bars to be simply supported or fixed at the ends.

Diffusion Spectrum Imaging Maps Early Axonal Loss and a Unique Progressive Signal in Neuronal Intranuclear Inclusion Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To delineate specific in vivo white matter pathology in neuronal intranuclear inclusion disease (NIID) using diffusion spectrum imaging (DSI) and define its clinical relevance. Methods DSI was performed on 42 NIID patients and 38 matched controls.

Non-Uniform Torsion Behavior of Thin-Walled Beams According to the Finite Element Method

open access: yesSlovak Journal of Civil Engineering
This study is based on a theory for analyzing non-uniform torsion in thin-walled beams made of homogeneous elastic material with arbitrary cross-sections by incorporating the effect of the shear deformation of a cross-section.

Adaptable Tile‐Based Pneumatic Origami through Structurally Coupled Localized Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents tile‐based pneumatic origami structures with rigid tiles and flexible fabric creases, achieving adaptable properties including morphing shape, selective multistability, and tunable stiffness. Independently pressurized folding bladders at each crease enable structurally coupled localized actuation of origami structures.

ImWIP: Open-source image warping toolbox with adjoints and derivatives

open access: yesSoftwareX, 2023
Image warping is a popular tool for modeling deformation and motion in digital images. Inversion of such models requires two related operators: adjoint and differentiated image warping.

Engineering Deformation and Failure in Diamond Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Lattices via 3D Wall‐Thickness Grading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The work demonstrates that strategic wall‐thickness grading in diamond triply periodic minimal surface lattices enables precise tuning of deformation and failure behavior under compression. Different gradation patterns guide how and where the structure collapses, improving energy absorption or promoting controlled brittle failure.

Estimation of geoacoustic parameters and source range using airgun sounds in the East Siberian Sea, Arctic Ocean

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
Dispersion is a representative property of low-frequency sound propagation over long distances in shallow-water waveguides, making dispersion curves valuable for geoacoustic inversion. This study focuses on estimating the geoacoustic parameters using the

Analyzing warp drive spacetimes with Warp Factory

open access: yesClassical and Quantum Gravity
Abstract The field of warp research has been dominated by analytical methods to investigate potential solutions. However, these approaches often favor simple metric forms that facilitate analysis but ultimately limit the range of exploration of novel solutions.

Generalized Warping In Flexural-Torsional Buckling Analysis of Composite Beams [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied and Computational Mechanics, 2016
The finite element method is employed for the flexural-torsional linear buckling analysis of beams of arbitrarily shaped composite cross-section taking into account generalized warping (shear lag effects due to both flexure and torsion).
