Vocal Fold Atrophy in Patients With Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
This is the first study to quantify vocal fold atrophy in patients with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (AD/ADRD) using endoscopic imaging. Compared with age‐matched controls, AD/ADRD patients showed significantly greater vocal fold bowing and reduced mucosal wave amplitude, while normalized glottal gap area did not differ.

Patient Experience of Undergoing MRI With a New Active Transcutaneous Bone‐Anchored Hearing Implant

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
Active transcutaneous bone‐anchored hearing implants belong to a class of devices that may pose challenges in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) settings. In this prospective study, all MRI scans in patients (n = 15) with the Sentio Ti implant were completed without complications, and patients reported generally positive experiences with low levels of ...

Inter‐ and Intra‐Rater Reliability of 4D‐CT Versus Bronchoscopy in Diagnosing and Grading Tracheomalacia

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
Bronchoscopy and 4D‐CT are used to grade tracheomalacia severity, though reliability across raters and specialties has been unclear. In this multi‐institutional, multidisciplinary survey study, endoscopic assessment showed higher inter‐ and intra‐rater reliability than 4D‐CT, though both modalities demonstrated substantial‐to‐almost‐perfect agreement ...

Heterogenous Neuropathology in a Pedigree with RAB39B‐Related Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Background In 2015, we reported a family with Parkinson's disease resulting from the RAB39B p.G192R (c.574G>A) variant. Since then, two affected brothers from the family have undergone autopsy. Objectives To characterize neuropathological findings, assess intracellular distribution of RAB39B protein, and examine the effect of p.G192R on α ...

Deep Learning Improves Robustness of Voxelwise Kinetic Modeling for Hyperpolarized Carbon‐13 MRI

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose To evaluate whether deep learning improves the robustness of voxelwise kinetic parameter estimation from hyperpolarized (HP) 13C MRI compared with nonlinear least‐squares (NLLS) fitting. Methods A hybrid neural network (NN) was trained on synthetic pyruvate/lactate time courses generated from an open‐system two‐compartment HP 13C ...

A Physics‐Informed Koopman Operator Framework for Decentralized Discrete‐Time Sequential Control of a Modular Aerial Parcel Delivery Robot

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mechanical System Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper presents a Physics‐Informed Koopman Operator (PIKO) framework integrated with a discrete‐time Sequential Action Control (SAC) for real‐time, decentralized control of a modular aerial parcel delivery robot composed of multiple independently actuated propeller modules.
