Use of expanded polystyrene wastes in developing hollow block masonry units
Construction and Building Materials, 2020Abstract This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation aimed at developing lightweight hollow block masonry units of adequate mechanical and durability characteristics for applications in the construction industry. Five dosages of EPS crumbles were used as partial replacement of the sand in the blocks mixture, namely; 0%, 10%, 15%,

Nanotechnology, 2019
This paper reports on the recycling of expanded polystyrene (EPS) waste to be repurposed as EPS nanofibrous mats for air filtration applications. The EPS nanofibrous mats were prepared via electrospinning technique. The EPS solutions for producing the mats were made by dissolving the EPS waste in dimethylformamide (DMF) and d-limonene solvents.

DURABILITY OF NEW POLYMER MORTAR USING WASTE EXPANDED POLYSTYRENE SOLUTION
2003ABSTRACT New polymer mortar using waste expanded polystyrene (EPS) solution-based binders has been developed as an effective recycling method of EPS. The polymer mortar has almost the same properties as conventional polyester mortar or polymethyl methacrylate mortar in working life and mechanical properties such as flexural and compressive strengths,

Utilization of waste expanded polystyrene: Blends with silica-filled natural rubber
Materials & Design, 2012Abstract Expanded polystyrene (EPS) constitutes a considerable part of thermoplastic waste in the environment in terms of volume. In this study, this waste material has been utilized for blending with silica-reinforced natural rubber (NR). The NR/EPS (35/5) blends were prepared by melt mixing in a Brabender Plasticorder.

Dissolution and recovery of waste expanded polystyrene using alternative essential oils
Fuel, 2019Abstract The disposal of expanded polystyrene contributes to the current pollution problem. To deal with such issues, there are different recycling methods. However, most of these options are expensive and environmentally unfriendly. Herein, we report an alternative, environmentally friendly and cheaper recycling process for recovering expanded ...

Plastic wastes have emerged as a great challenge for ecological and environmental governance with the global spread of white pollution. There is an urgent need for the development of an advanced technique for combating plastic contamination. Herein, we developed an N-halamine-modified hyper-cross-linked polystyrene (i.e., EPS-3TDETA-Cl) with the ...
