Waste vitrification: prediction of acceptable compositions in a lime-soda-silica glass-forming system [PDF]
A model is presented based upon calculated bridging oxygens which allows the prediction of the region of acceptable glass compositions for a lime-soda-silica glass-forming system containing mixed waste.

Degradable Magnetic Composites from Recycled NdFeB Magnets for Soft Actuation and Sensing
This work presents a degradable soft magnetic composite made from recycled NdFeB particles embedded in a gelatin‐based organogel. The material is processed into magnetic sensors and soft robotic components, which can later be dissolved in a green solvent to recover NdFeB magnetic particles.

A Perspective on the Applications of Triphasic Gas Storage in Electrochemical Systems
Gas storage in microporous materials positioned locally at an electrode or electrocatalyst surface enhances electrochemical processes. Abstract Microporous materials store gases under dry conditions (e.g., hydrogen or oxygen via physisorption), but in some cases microporous materials also show triphasic (e.g., in a solid|gas|liquid system) gas storage ...

Perspective: Hollow Core Optical Fibres for Ultraviolet and Visible Wavelengths
Hollow core optical fibres bypass material constraints that limit optical fibres at ultraviolet and visible wavelengths. However, their challenging fabrication has limited their development, and significant gains in performance remain possible. In this perspective we outline approaches to enable the next generation of fibres for shorter wavelengths ...

ABSTRACT The demand for off‐the‐shelf biocompatible bone substitutes has driven the development of numerous independent in vitro technologies to generate products resembling physiological tissues. Due to technical challenges and overly simplified cultivation approaches/niches, the end‐products are often uniformly shaped and inferior to native bone ...

Performance Characteristics of Cement Paste with Waste Glass [PDF]
In several countries waste glass causes environmental problem: most of it is stockpiled, some is recycled into the packaging stream again. Being amorphous and containing relatively large quantities of silicon and calcium, glass is pozzolanic or even ...
