Unraveling the mechanism of a novel laser-induced graphene for adsorptive fuel desulfurization: Box-Behnken process optimization and statistical physics modeling

open access: yesChemical Engineering Journal Advances
In this work, laser-induced graphene (LIG), synthesized directly from polyimide via ultraviolet laser irradiation was for the first time investigated an adsorbent for deep adsorptive desulfurization (ADS) to remove thiophene (TP) and benzothiophene (BT ...

FastNano Liquid: An Automated Platform for Small‐Angle X‐ray Scattering‐Based Materials Discovery

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present FastNano Liquid, an automated small‐ and wide‐angle X‐ray scattering platform for the combined synthesis and characterization of (nano)materials. The platform is coupled to varied reactor workflows for both in situ studies of reaction kinetics and ex situ screening of synthesis conditions to support machine learning‐guided exploration ...

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Reuse of waste glass in building brick production

open access: yesWaste Management & Research: The Journal for a Sustainable Circular Economy, 2009
The main objective of this study was to investigate the effect of waste glass addition on the properties of fired clay brick. Milled waste glass was added into brick clay at a ratio of 0% (control sample), 2.5, 5 and 10%. Four different series of test samples were produced by extrusion pressing. Samples were fired at 850, 950 and 1050 °C.

Biomass Native Structure Into Functional Carbon‐Based Catalysts for Fenton‐Like Reactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study indicates that eight biomasses with 2D flaky and 1D acicular structures influence surface O types, morphology, defects, N doping, sp2 C, and Co nanoparticles loading in three series of carbon, N‐doped carbon, and cobalt/graphitic carbon. This work identifies how these structural factors impact catalytic pathways, enhancing selective electron

Medicines Reuse

open access: yes, 2022
This reprint examines the concept of medicines reuse, the idea that unused medication returned by one patient can be re-dispensed for use by another. Ten papers written by over 20 authors examine a range of issues related to medicines reuse including the
