Nature‐Inspired Sustainable Cooling for Photovoltaics with Enhanced Temperature‐Salinity Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Addressing solar panel overheating, a nature‐inspired cooling system mimicking ocean currents is developed. A moisture‐absorbing solution layer uses sunlight, radiative cooling, and moisture processes to create temperature/salinity gradients, accelerating circulation. The prototype cools panels by up to 18.2 °C under sunlight, sustains cooling, rapidly

Supraparticles Composed of Graphitic Carbon Nitride Nanoparticles and Silica‐Supported Horseradish Peroxidase as Customizable Hybrid Catalysts for Photo‐Biocatalytic Cascade Reactions in Continuous Flow

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Herein presented supraparticles combine the nanoparticulate photocatalyst graphitic carbon nitride with the enzyme horseradish peroxidase, which is immobilized on silica nanoparticles. In an optimized compatibility range, both catalysts operate effectively within the hybrid supraparticles and catalyze a cascade reaction consisting of the photocatalytic

Waste to Energy

open access: yes, 2007
Essent operates a coal-fired power plant, called AC-9, in Geertruidenberg. A gasifier connected to AC-9 thermally treats waste wood through gasification. The waste wood Essent used is demolition and construction wood, the so-called B-wood. The gas produced through gasification is fed into the connected AC-9 where it is used as fuel.
