Quantitative Insights into Atomic Scale Oil–Clay Adhesion Governing Shale Oil Retention and Mobility

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Atomic force microscopy reveals a clear adhesion hierarchy between shale oil and clay minerals, governed by nanoscale surface chemistry. Strong interactions on chlorite and illite arise from abundant polar sites and cation bridging, whereas weaker coupling on montmorillonite limits interfacial binding.

Analysis of the Thermal Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication of Water-lubricated Hybrid Ceramic Bearing

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2017
The elastohydrodynamic lubrication geometric model of water-lubricated hybrid ceramic journal bearing is established. The numerical simulation of water-lubricated hybrid ceramic bearings considering its thermal effect is carried out by using the Reynolds

Chemically Modular, Nonfluorinated Polymer Adsorbents for Capturing Per‐ and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS)

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Nonfluorinated polymer networks for PFAS adsorption are synthesized using active ester click chemistry. Incorporating Lewis base ligands along with hydrophilic and hydrophobic co‐monomers leads to high PFOA binding efficiency. Ligand basicity and pH are found to play an important role in PFOA sorption.

Comparative Performance Analysis of Various Flat Plate Solar Collectors Incorporating Spiral and Square Arrangement of Circular Type Riser Tube

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Three flat‐plate collectors with spiral and square coiled riser tubes were tested and it was found that the spiral type provides the best results with a thermal efficiency of 66.98% for a mass flow rate of 0.4 kg/min. Riser tube geometry is a key factor in optimizing flat‐plate collector output.

Matching TGF‐β1 Activation With Stress‐Responsive Charge‐Reversal Hydrogel Microspheres for the Treatment of Osteoarthritis

open access: yesExploration, EarlyView.
Based on the interaction between the weakly cross‐linked disulfide bonds that break under stress and charge‐reversal messenger molecules, we herein achieved nanoparticle charge reversal under stress and constructed a stress‐responsive charge‐reversal hydrogel microsphere system using microfluidic technology.

Solid–Liquid Triboelectric Nanogenerators as Physicochemical Encoders for Intelligent Liquid Recognition

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Materials, EarlyView.
Solid–liquid triboelectric nanogenerators are conceptualized as dynamic physicochemical encoders that encode intrinsic liquid properties into distinguishable triboelectric fingerprints. This review provides a unified framework for these platforms, covering sensing mechanisms in droplet impact, continuous flow, and immersion modes.

Condition monitoring of slow-speed rolling element bearings using stress waves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Condition monitoring of rolling element bearings through the use of vibration analysis is an established technique for detecting early stages of component degradation. However, this success is not mirrored at rotational speeds below 16r/min.
