Multifaceted Surface Analysis of Municipal Solid Waste Incineration Fly Ash by Water Repellent Treatment with Fatty Acid

open access: yesWaste
In this study, we aimed to conduct a multifaceted surface analysis of water repellent-treated municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) fly ash to determine the suppression mechanism of fatty acid elution.

Soil water repellency changes with depth and relationship to physical properties within wettable and repellent soil profiles

open access: yesJournal of Hydrology and Hydromechanics, 2017
This study explored the effect of soil water repellency (SWR) on soil hydrophysical properties with depth. Soils were sampled from two distinctly wettable and water repellent soil profiles at depth increments from 0-60 cm. The soils were selected because

RAT (Rattus rattus diardii L.) Repellent Made of Soursop (Annona muricata L.) Leaves Extract

open access: yesEquilibrium, 2018
House rat (Rattus rattus) is a rodent that can damage any objects at home and leave manure there by resulting in bad odor and rat also becomes a host of some disease vectors. The use of plant repellent is one alternative control utilizing rat’s olfactory

Methyl Potassium Siliconate and Siloxane Inhibit the Formation of Multispecies Biofilms on Ceramic Roof Tiles: Efficiency and Comparison of Two Common Water Repellents

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2021
Ceramic roof tiles are widespread marketed building materials, rapidly colonized by microorganisms that form multispecies biofilms on their surface and play crucial roles in biodeterioration processes.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Water repellent soils: the case for unsaturated soil mechanics

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2016
Water repellent (or “hydrophobic” or “non-wetting”) soils have been studied by soil scientists for well over a century. These soils are typified by poor water infiltration, which leads to increased soil erosion and poor crop growth.

ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

A study on fundamental water lubrication characteristics of flat thrust bearing with partial water-repellent regions

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2020
The water lubrication characteristic of partial water-repellent (slip) type flat thrust bearings was examined. In this bearing, water-repellent (slip) regions and hydrophilic (non-slip) regions were alternately arranged in the slip direction, and the ...

Cover systems with synthetic water‐repellent soils

open access: yesVadose Zone Journal, 2021
A cover system is a crucial component of engineered landfills, to minimize water percolation into the underlying waste. Capillary barriers are an alternative cover system, which has been widely used in the arid and semiarid regions as no cohesive, low ...
