The color changing effect of the moisture content of wood materials on water borne varnishes [PDF]
One-component semi-matte (A) and two-component shiny (B) water-borne varnishes were applied on the surface of the test panels made of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) and Eastern beech (Fagus orientalis Lipsky) with 8%, 10%, and 12% moisture content in ...

Fluoride release and uptake abilities of different fissure sealants [PDF]
Background: The long-term capability of resin sealants and glass ionomer cements to release fluoride is associated to a reduction in pit and fissure caries. The regular use of fluoride varnishes/toothpastes can result in the absorption of fluoride into

Exploring marking methods for the predatory hoverfly Sphaerophoria rueppellii (Diptera: Syrphidae)
As important pollinators and predators of aphids, hoverflies play an important role in ecosystems. This study focuses on identifying the best marking technique for the model species Sphaerophoria rueppellii that can be used to track hoverfly feeding and oviposition sites, evaluating three methods: rubidium (RbCl), fluorescein, and fluorescent dusts ...

Enhancing the vase life of cut roses through spectral optimisation during greenhouse cultivation
Here, we examined three red‐to‐blue (R:B) light emitting diode (LED) ratios (90:10, 80:20 and 70:30) in two cut rose cultivars. All treatments enhanced photosynthesis, with 90:10 showing the strongest effects—raising chlorophyll, carotenoids, anthocyanins and carbohydrate levels, and extending vase life by up to 30%.
