Combining High-Resolution Remote Sensing Products with a Crop Model to Estimate Carbon and Water Budget Components: Application to Sunflower

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2020
The global increase in food demand in the context of climate change requires a clear understanding of cropland function and of its impact on biogeochemical cycles.

Soft Skins With Reversible Thickness Morphing: Materials, Mechanisms, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Evolution of electronic skin (e‐skin) technologies toward adaptive, multifunctional soft skins. Phase I highlights early rigid and discrete sensory interfaces. Phase II shows the transition toward flexible, stretchable, and large‐area e‐skin. Phase III captures the emergence of computational e‐skin.

Ambient‐Spray Ni–Cu(–O)/Ag Nanowire Transparent Heaters for High‐Temperature Heating and Far‐/Near‐Field EMI Suppression

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
A vacuum‐free, ambient‐spray Ni–Cu(–O)/Ag nanowire transparent‐heater platform is realized via conformal junction‐shell engineering and silica–hybrid overcoating, enabling robust high‐temperature heating together with GHz‐band far‐field EMI shielding and near‐field magnetic‐noise attenuation.

Assessment of agricultural watershed water budget considering upstream water budget against reservoir discharge and agricultural water supply

open access: yesAgricultural Water Management
This study proposes a watershed baseflow and direct runoff assessment methodology considering agricultural reservoirs, consisting of an assessment method that reflects the upstream water budget in the reservoir water balance and a watershed analysis ...

Iron‐Mediated Release of Aged Dissolved Organic Carbon From Waterlogged Peatland Under Warming

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study conducts a five‐year in situ warming experiment in high‐altitude peatlands to examine dissolved organic carbon (DOC) release. The study shows that warming promotes the release of plant‐derived modern DOC in drained peatlands, but amplifies aquatic export of century‐old DOC from waterlogged peatlands via Fe‐mediated DOC mobilization—a ...

Inland Excess Water Projection Based on Meteorological and Pedological Monitoring Data on a Study Area Located in the Southern Part of the Great Hungarian Plain

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Geography, 2013
The research investigated the process of excess water formation. Complex measurement stations were developed in order to determine the most important hydro-meteorological and soil factors contributing to the formation of excess water.

Physics‐Constrained Constitutive Learning of Rate‐Limiting Timescales for Efficient Hydrogen‐Based Direct Reduction for Green Steel Making

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A conversion‐resolved constitutive framework is developed for the hydrogen‐based direct reduction of iron oxide pellets. Effective reaction and transport timescales are inferred directly from measured trajectories and mapped against operating conditions, pellet architecture, and composition. The analysis reveals how late‐stage transport control emerges

The Eastern Mediterranean Sea mean sea level decadal slowdown: the effects of the water budget

open access: yesFrontiers in Climate
This paper analyses the decadal variability of the Mean Sea Level (MSL) trend for the Mediterranean Sea and three subregions using a combination of satellite altimetry, tide gauges and reanalyses datasets for the past 30 years (1993–2022).

Extra Climate Benefits From Afforestation Due to Reduced Forest Fragmentation in China

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Afforestation in China reduced forest fragmentation in 2015, transforming 51.8 M ha of edge forests into interior forests. This enhanced carbon sequestration (1.4±0.2 Pg CO2e, a cooling biogeochemical effect), while reduced albedo (−0.9 Pg CO2e, a warming biophysical effect) partially offset the gain, yielding a net extra climate benefit of ...
