The impact of water conservation regulations on mining firms: A stochastic control approach

Water Resources and Economics, 2021
Abstract Large water demands by the mining industry are of increasing concern around the world. The cost of a specific water management regulation is studied for an oil sands mining operation in Canada, where restrictions on water withdrawals vary with fluctuations in the river.

Water Inrush Risk zoning and Water Conservation Mining Technology in the Shennan Mining Area, Shaanxi, China

Arabian Journal for Science and Engineering, 2017
Water inrush risk zoning and water conservation mining technology are of significant importance for safe mining and environmental protection of the Jurassic coal seam in the fragile eco-geological environment of Western China. Statistics, theoretical analyses and numerical simulations are applied to divide and classify water inrush risk areas.

WATER USE AND WATER CONSERVATION BY THE COPPER MINING INDUSTRY1

JAWRA Journal of the American Water Resources Association, 1981
ABSTRACT: This paper examines the use of water by copper mines for treating low grade ores. The froth flotation process for treating sulphide ore and the heap leaching process for treating oxide ore are described, and ways of reducing the amount of water used in these processes are discussed. Estimates of the costs reducing water consumption are given.

Key Protecting Strata Criterion of Water Conservation Mining and its Application

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
The entironment is deteriorating increasingly in north of Shaanxi Yushenfu mine with coal mining cosmically. The causation is the lapse of groundwater owing to mining. Water conservation mining has been the exigent request. Aiming at the need of water conversation mining in north of Shaanxi shallow seam mine, this article found key protecting strata ...

Characterization of selected conservative and non-conservative isotopes in mine effluent and impacted surface waters: Implications for tracer applications at the mine-site scale

Applied Geochemistry, 2018
Abstract Effluent from Europe's largest active gold mine is discharged to the adjacent River Seurujoki via natural treatment wetlands in Lapland Finland. Site waters, including two sources of mine effluent, treatment wetland surface water and Seurujoki river water were chemically and isotopically characterized.
