Water Consumption in Suckling Pigs.

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Medical Science, 1994
Water consumption was measured in 199 suckling pigs aged 1 to 28 days. The suckling pigs began to drink water 3 to 5 hr after birth. Water consumption per pig increased from 36 ml/day at the age of 1 day to 403 ml/day at the age of 28 days. Water consumption per kg body weight, on the other hand, remained constant at 51 to 62 ml, regardless of age ...

PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells enhances bortezomib sensitivity in multiple myeloma cells by altering their metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

Water Consumption: Industrial Water Consumption, 1999

open access: yes, 2010
The industrial sector represents 16% of total freshwater consumption. The amount used reflects population distribution to some degree, but the high values in some watersheds far from the largest cities reflects the occurrence of resource-processing, a heavy user of water. In most cases, these facilities (mainly in the forest industry) were specifically

Inhibition of CDK9 enhances AML cell death induced by combined venetoclax and azacitidine

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The CDK9 inhibitor AZD4573 downregulates c‐MYC and MCL‐1 to induce death of cytarabine (AraC)‐resistant AML cells. This enhances VEN + AZA‐induced cell death significantly more than any combination of two of the three drugs in AraC‐resistant AML cells.

Water Consumption: Agricultural Water Consumption/Irrigation (Prairies)

open access: yes, 2010
Irrigation is the provision of water to crops beyond what is provided by local rainfall. Irrigation is a vital part of agriculture in certain areas of Canada like the southern Prairies and the interior of British Columbia. The amount of water that needs to be withdrawn for irrigation varies annually.

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

NATIONAL APPROACHES TO THE NORMALIZATION OF WATER USE AT ENTERPRISES OF THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS AND THE WAYS OF THEIR IMPROVEMENT

open access: yesВодное хозяйство России: проблемы, технологии, управление, 2021
The article discusses methodological approaches to the development of norms, standards for water consumption and wastewater disposal, aimed at the rational use of water resources, as well as substantiates the need to develop a document that establishes ...

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...
