New class of compounds have very low vapor pressures [PDF]

open access: yes, 1967
Magnesium hexahydrate tetrachlorometallates are 50-volume-percent water, have a high melting point and possess a low vapor pressure. These new compounds are relatively noncorrosive, thermally stable, and water soluble but not hygroscopic.

Can switching fuels save water? A life cycle quantification of freshwater consumption for Texas coal-and natural gas-fired electricity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Thermal electricity generation is a major consumer of freshwater for cooling, fuel extraction and air emissions controls, but the life cycle water impacts of different fossil fuel cycles are not well understood.

Manufacturing Continuous Fiber‐Reinforced Printing Filaments: Development of a Post‐Consolidation Unit

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A novel, temperature‐controlled post‐consolidation unit is developed to test its potential to improve the melt impregnation process used to manufacture continuous fiber‐reinforced filaments for additive manufacturing of high‐performance thermoplastics.

Unidirectional Tape‐Based Composites from Hemp and Pineapple Leaf Fiber: Mechanical Performance in Conventional and Bio‐Based Matrices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The study investigates novel semi‐finished products made of unidirectionally arranged hemp or pineapple leaf fiber‐reinforced composites produced from different matrices. The materials are analyzed in terms of their mechanical and interfacial properties and void content.

Analysis of Temperature Field and Water Cooling of Outer Rotor In-Wheel Motor for Electric Vehicle

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
In view of the narrow installation space of high power density and high torque in-wheel motor, the heat existed the in-wheel motor is balanced by cooling water channel to ensure the heat dissipation of the high power density in-wheel motor. In this paper,

Removal of metabolic heat from man working in a protective suit [PDF]

open access: yes
A water cooled garment was constructed and used to study the characteristics of independent regional cooling of the body in contrast to the current practice of uniform cooling.

STUDI EVALUASI EFISIENSI PEMAKAIAN AIR UNTUK OPERASIONALISASI OPEN RECIRCULATING COOLING WATER SYSTEM PADA INDUSTRI TEKSTIL (Studi Kasus Pada Industri Tekstil PT. X) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
A lot of industrial use water in their process to support their operational. One of the systems that use a lot of water in a textile industry is the cooling water system. In this system, water is taken from water source (etc: deep well).

Ecology of a reef forming serpulid, Hydroides norvegica : final report [PDF]

open access: yes, 1970
Experimental results reported herein were obtained on colonies of serpulid worms collected from a filter box (Fig. 1) through which water was pumped at a rate of about 1,000 gallons per day.

Rheocasting versus Die Casting: An Insight into the Low‐Cycle Fatigue Behavior of AlSi7Mg0.6

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The study compares rheocast lightweight components with high‐pressure die cast materials regarding microstructure and fatigue behavior. Rheocast process offers higher efficiency due to lower casting temperatures. Despite some microstructural differences, both processes show similar strengths (yield strength 125 MPa, tensile strength 240 MPa).
