RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Impacts of Continuous Water Diversions by the South‐To‐North Water Diversion Project on Increased Precipitation and Decreased Temperature in Water‐Receiving Areas

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
Climate impacts of the South‐to‐North water diversion project in China on water‐receiving areas (WRA) is simulated by the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model. The results show that during the 2015–2022 water diversion period, the WRA experiences

Issues Related to Incorporating Northern Peatlands into Global Climate Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Northern peatlands cover ~3–4 million km2 (~10% of the land north of 45°N) and contain ~200–400 Pg carbon (~10–20% of total global soil carbon), almost entirely as peat (organic soil).

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Consolidation of water management and efficiency parameters for development of green building rating system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Water generation and distribution involve activities that leads to energy consumptions in various ways. This leads to GHG emission which make it important for various sustainable development assessment.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Spatiotemporal Variation in Land Use/Land Cover and Its Driving Causes in a Semiarid Watershed, Northeastern China

open access: yesHydrology
The West Liaohe River Basin, a core arid region in Northeast China, faces a significant evaporation–precipitation imbalance and exhibits fragmented land systems, epitomized by the Horqin Sandy Land. Integrating three decades of land use/land cover (LULC)

Water cycle and people: water for feeding humanity [PDF]

open access: yes
The distinction of ‘blue’ (liquid) and ‘green’ (vapour) water flow is introduced to make possible an assessment of water flows to be appropriated for future food production.
