Development of a Reinforcement Learning-Based Intelligent Irrigation Decision-Making Model

open access: yesAgronomy
Originating from the practical demands of digital irrigation district construction, this study aims to provide support for precise irrigation management. This study developed a reinforcement learning-based intelligent irrigation decision-making model for

The water cycle in a changing climate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Millions of people across the globe are already affected by natural variability in the water cycle. A multidisciplinary team of experts from the University of East Anglia and the University of Nottingham, led by Timothy Osborn, Professor of Climate ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Applying a Life-Cycle Costs Approach to Water [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This working paper presents findings and recommendations from the application of a life-cycle costs approach (LCCA) to water supply services in rural communities and small towns1 in four countries -- Andhra Pradesh (India), Burkina Faso, Ghana and ...

"Blue energy" from ion adsorption and electrode charging in sea- and river water

open access: yes, 2010
A huge amount of entropy is produced at places where fresh water and seawater mix, for example at river mouths. This mixing process is a potentially enormous source of sustainable energy, provided it is harnessed properly, for instance by a cyclic ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Multi-scenario simulation of water transfer impacts on water quality and ecological responses in the three gorges reservoir

open access: yesSustainable Futures
Inter-basin water transfer (IBWT) projects profoundly reshape hydrological and ecological processes, yet their integrated environmental impacts on large reservoir systems remain insufficiently quantified, particularly under low-flow conditions ...

A coordinated drainage and regulation model of urban water systems in China: A case study in Fuzhou city

open access: yesRiver, 2023
Extreme climate and urbanization lead to frequent urban floods, and urban water system dispatching is an important means of urban flood control. A coupled model is proposed to simulate urban floods in real‐time and achieve comprehensive water system ...

Water ice clouds in a martian global climate model using data assimilation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The water cycle is one of the key seasonal cycles on Mars, and the radiative effects of water ice clouds have recently been shown to alter the thermal structure of the atmosphere.
