Research on Instantaneous Sediment Concentration in Muddy Coastal Waters Under Extreme Weather Conditions

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
This study addresses a fundamental limitation inherent in conventional sediment transport capacity formulas—their failure to accurately capture real-time fluctuations in suspended sediment concentration.

Storm Water and Contamination Control Efficiency Evaluation for Construction of a Neighborhood Project Using Low Impact Development

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
Urban flooding and water pollution are urgent problems to be solved in urban development. The improvement of urban drainage and water quality in urban construction using ecological measures is an important research task. Low impact development (LID) is a

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Evaluating Leaf Water Potential of Maize Through Multi-Cultivar Dehydration Experiments and Segmentation Thresholding

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Estimating leaf water potential (Ψleaf) is essential for understanding plant physiological processes’ response to drought. The estimation of Ψleaf based on different regression analysis methods with hyperspectral vegetation indices (VIs) has been proven ...

Life cycle assessment of drinking water: comparing conventional water treatment, reverse osmosis and mineral water in glass and plastic bottles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This study evaluated the environmental impacts caused by drinking water consumption in Barcelona (Spain) using the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology. Five different scenarios were compared: 1) tap water from conventional drinking water treatment; 2)

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

Investigation on efficiency improvement of a Kalina cycle by sliding condensation pressure method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Conventional Kalina cycle-based geothermal power plants are designed with a fixed working point determined by the local maximum ambient temperature during the year.

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

NDAWL-PINN: a new non-dimensionalization and multi-task learning approach for efficient training of physics-informed neural networks to solve the shallow water equations

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics
The exploration of deep learning methodologies has recently generated significant interest in the use of Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) to address complex physical problems governed by partial differential equations (PDEs).

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.
