Water depth inversion from satellite dataset
2014 IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2014Within an effort to estimate near-shore bathymetry from satellite scenes, a method based on wave celerity and wavelength estimation is developed. These wave characteristics are extracted from SPOT-5 panchromatic and multispectral scenes. The method allows us to associate the wavelength and the celerity of the same detected wave and to estimate the ...

THE OPTIMUM SOURCE DEPTH DISTRIBUTION FOR REVERBERATION INVERSION IN A SHALLOW-WATER WAVEGUIDE
Theoretical and Computational Acoustics 2005, 2006An approach for extracting the modal backscattering matrix from reverberation data in shallow water was proposed recently (Shang, Gao, and Tang, 2002). The kernel matrix of the inversion is constructed using the square of the modal functions. The singularity of this matrix (or the stability of the inversion) is the crucial issue to be considered.

Depth inversion in coastal water based on SAR image of waves
Chinese Journal of Oceanology and Limnology, 2008Wave-number spectrum technique is proposed to retrieve coastal water depths by means of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image of waves. Based on the general dispersion relation of ocean waves, the wavelength changes of a surface wave over varying water depths can be derived from SAR.

On the Solution of One Inverse Problem for Shallow Water Equations in a Pool of Variable Depth
Mathematical Models and Computer Simulations, 2021The problem of the propagation of waves of small amplitude on the surface of shallow water in a reservoir of variable depth is considered. The Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation with a variable coefficient taking into account both the bottom profile and the geometric divergence of waves is obtained from the system of shallow water equations.

An inversion method to estimate the winter wheat water content based on vegetation optical depth
2014 IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2014In this study, winter wheat water content was retrieved using a parameterized relationship between the winter wheat water content and its structure parameters, i.e. radius, length and thickness of the leaves. The parameterized relationship was constructed from a large quantity of simulated attenuation cross section (Q e ) of the winter wheat leaves ...

Deep (about 1000 m) marked temperature inversions and/or salinity reversals found in conductivity- temperature-depth profiles in the south-western Pacific for 1985 to 1987 are shown to arise from confluences of different branches of the Antarctic Intermediate Water (AAIW).
