Determination of reflectivity and water depth for firing marine sources as an inverse distortion operator

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1979
In marine seismic exploration, seismograms recording reflected energy generated from the firing of a seismic source are used to measure the characteristics of the medium through which the energy passes. These measurements are converted into control parameters for an array of seismic sources.

Depth partitioning of modal energy of guided acoustic waves in shallow water as an additional input for geoacoustic inversion

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2003
Modal mapping experiments (MOMAX) previously described by Souza, Frisk, and Becker [J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 112, 2281 (2001)] employ a CW-source at a fixed water depth and a receiver also at a fixed depth, with the range between the two varying systematically.

Discharge and water‐depth estimates for ungauged rivers: Combining hydrologic, hydraulic, and inverse modeling with stage and water‐area measurements from satellites

Water Resources Research, 2015
AbstractAnticipating future global freshwater scarcity and providing mitigation require timely knowledge of spatiotemporal dynamics of discharge for gauged and, more challengingly, ungauged rivers. This study describes a coupled hydrologic (SWAT) and hydraulic (XSECT) modeling approach set in a genetic algorithm framework for estimating discharge and ...

Full Waveform Inversion Using Broadband Variable-depth Streamer Data in Deep Water West Africa

Proceedings, 2014
Full waveform inversion (FWI) produces high-resolution velocity models through an iterative inversion scheme that minimizes the difference between real and modeled data. Due to the limitations of current FWI algorithms, clean, low-frequency data are desirable to minimize the potential for cycle skipping and crucial for a successful FWI update. We apply

Droplet size spectra and water-vapor concentration of laboratory water clouds: inversion of Fourier transform infrared (500–5000 cm^-1) optical-depth measurement

Applied Optics, 1997
Infrared extinction optical depth (500-5000 cm(-1)) has been measured with a Fourier transform infrared spectrometer for clouds produced with an ultrasonic nebulizer. Direct measurement of the cloud droplet size spectra agree with size spectra retrieved from inversion of the extinction measurements. Both indicate that the range of droplet sizes is 1-14

Fourier hybrid neural bathymetry network for active–passive fusion shallow water depth inversion

Applied Optics
In this study, a shallow water inversion method based on the Fourier hybrid neural bathymetry network is proposed to address the weak representation of spatial context in active–passive fusion bathymetry. The method uses Ice, Cloud, and land Elevation Satellite-2 laser bathymetry as the reference ground truth and combines Gaofen-2 ...
