The effect of land disposal of dairy factory wastes on soil properties : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Agricultural Science in Soil Science, Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1978
Many New Zealand dairy factories dispose of their wastewater by spray irrigating onto pasture. Little is known, however, about the effects of this disposal on soil properties.

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Geothermal development and the Salton Sea [PDF]

open access: yes, 1976
One of the limiting factors on energy development in the arid American West is the availability of water. Even geothermal development must take into account the hydrologic cycle of the surrounding area.

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Technological model of water contact iron removal

open access: yesJournal of Water and Land Development, 2018
Different types of filters are used to remove iron from underground water, one of them is foam polystyrene. Depending on the chemical water composition, tasks for water supply and other working conditions of iron-removing filters, it is necessary to ...

Association of latrine and waste disposal conditions with water and kitchenware contamination in peri-urban Lusaka

open access: yesnpj Clean Water, 2022
Sanitation facility conditions and waste disposal practices are hypothesized to affect the fecal contamination of drinking water and kitchenware. The present study aimed to examine the physical conditions of sanitation facilities and waste disposal ...

Measuring thermal conductivity and water suction for variably saturated bentonite

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2021
An engineered barrier system (EBS) for the disposal of high-level radioactive waste (HLW) is composed of a disposal canister with spent fuel, a buffer material, a gap-filling material, and a backfill material.

Sewage Disposal in Shallow Coastal Waters

open access: yesCoastal Engineering 1984, 1984
The disposal of sewage effluent into coastal waters for dilution and final disposal requires an effective mixing of sewage with the seawater in order to achieve the necessary or demanded reduction of bacterial population. Most of the design parameters originate from work done on ocean outfalls. RAWN et al.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Procedure for Haul Truck On-Board LNG Fuel Systems Performance Evaluation [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
The state-of-the-art of the advantages of using liquefied natural gas as a motor fuel for haul trucks instead of oil motor fuel is considered. It is noted that the energy intensity of the process of rock mass hauling by dual-fuel (gas-diesel) haul trucks
