Siderocalciphylactic Sensitization to Distilled Water
Archives of Internal Medicine, 1962Calciphylaxis is a condition of induced systemic hypersensitivity in which, during a "critical period" after sensitization by a systemic calcifying factor (e.g., vitamin-D compounds, parathyroid hormone), treatment with certain challengers (e.g., metallic salts, albumen) causes an acute local calcification followed by inflammation and sclerosis.

To the Editor:— I should like to comment on your answer to an inquiry regarding the usefulness of injections of distilled water (The Journal, Oct. 20, 1945, p. 584). You state that "there appears to be no basis for preference for water over isotonic solution of sodium chloride." I can think of at least three conditions in which this statement would ...

Ultrasonic atomization of distilled water
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2018Experimental data on ultrasonic atomization of distilled water in a frequency range from 5 to 50 kHz are presented. A good agreement was found with the predictions of Rajan and Pandit [Ultrasonics 39, 235–255 (2001)] for the atomized primary drop size as a function of frequency.
