Coarse‐grained (left) and atomistic (right) models of the shape memory polymer ESTANE ETE 75DT3 are shown schematically. The two representations bridge molecular detail and mesoscopic description. Both models capture shape memory behavior, linking segmental mobility and conformational relaxation of anisotropic chains to macroscopic recovery, and ...

Nondestructive Testing of Welded Composite Metal Foams
X‐ray computed tomography (CT) is used to evaluate welded steel–steel composite metal foam (CMF) joints of two density classes. It reports variation in postweld spatial void distribution and correlates it to weld‐induced changes, mechanical performance, and failure within welded CMF panels.

This study shows that superalloys used in aircraft engine disks become much more prone to deformation at high temperatures if they have been strained during manufacturing. This effect increases with the level of prior strain but eventually reaches a limit.

Behavior of a water drop impinging on heated porous surfaces.
In the present study, thermal and hydrodynamic behaviors of a water drop impinging on heated porous surfaces were investigated experimentally. Four porous substrates having different permeability and surface roughness were prepared by sintering glass ...

WATER REPELLENCY IN MARITSA-IZTOK OPEN CAST COAL MINE SOILS IN BULGARIA
The study presents assessment of water repellency (WR) in non-humus reclaimed mine soils from theregion of Maritsa-Iztok Mines, Bulgaria. Soil samples from two experimental plots (under black pine and withoutvegetation), from depths 0–5 (10) cm and 10–20

A Dislocation Perspective on Strength and Toughness in Ceramics
Dislocations in ceramics enjoy a long but yet under‐appreciated history. The three research waves for dislocations in ceramics highlight the topic evolution over the last 90 years. This review focuses on the impact of dislocation on strength and toughness in ceramics.
