Entry of Water Into the Plant

1974
The movement of water around the hydrological cycle takes place in response to a series of merging potential gradients, the water moving because there is nothing to stop it; obviously at some point in the cycle a substantial quantity of energy must be injected and as we have seen this comes from the sun and is used almost entirely in the conversion of ...

Vertical entry of solids into water

Fluid Dynamics, 1985
The vertical inertial entry of spheres and disks of various masses into water has been investigated experimentally. The values of the virtual mass and the drag coefficients are estimated with the aid of high-speed photography of the penetration process. An expression is obtained for the nonstationary cavity near the body.

A STUDY OF THE WATER-ENTRY CAVITY

1963
Abstract : For missiles producing clean cavities after water entry the cavity development is shown by theory to depend significantly only on: entry angle, an effective mass, and a Froude number based on the nose-flat diameter. A method is outlined for estimating pressures in closed, almost-steady cavities, from cavity geometry. Data from application of

Vertical Entry of Missiles into Water

Journal of Applied Physics, 1952
Investigations, carried out principally on the vertical water entry of steel spheres, are described. Graphs show the effect of several experimental parameters on the time and place of occurrence of various events in the life of the cavity which accompanies the entry.

Violent water entry of spheres

European Journal of Mechanics - B/Fluids, 2019
Abstract Water entry is an impulsive two-phase flow often met in nature and in industrial processes. Violent vertical entries are observed when the projectile is heavy and when the Froude number is high enough: they form a distinct category characterized by an elongated cavity trailed by the projectile.

Asymmetric water entry of a wedge

2003
A mapping method of the complex analysis is used to study the water entry of asymmetric wedges. The problem is solved by using the expressions of the complex potential and velocity constructed by Chaplygin's singular points method extended to solve free boundary problems with an arbitrary boundary condition on the free surface. In this way the boundary

Water Entry of Thin Hydrofoils

2011
First order methods conformably to entry of thin foils in incompressible fluids are considered. Two of them have been based on complex variables and the speed function as well as the partial time-derivative are obtained, another two methods are based on the time depended Green function and Fourier transformation, respectively. For examples, an entry of
