We present a chromosome‐level genome assembly of Siraitia grosvenorii and, through comparative genomics, uncover a conserved UGT73 tandem array driving triterpenoid saponin diversification in Cucurbitaceae. Crystalized SgUGT73AM30 further reveals the regioselectivity mechanism underlying its catalytic activity.

A Review of Failure Modes and Safety Strategies of Lithium‐Ion Batteries from Materials to Systems
A cascade‐aware framework is presented for lithium‐ion battery safety, linking thermal runaway initiation, acceleration, runaway reaction, and propagation with material‐, cell/pack‐, and system‐level interventions. By integrating failure mechanisms, quantitative safety indicators, and staged interception strategies, this review highlights how safer ...

Coupled Electronic and Ionic Conductivity in Strain‐Stiffening Hydrogels
A soft PVA–PABA hydrogel is developed that couples tissue‐like strain‐stiffening mechanics with dual ionic–electronic conduction. Dynamic boronic crosslinks enable self‐assembled percolative pathways, producing deformation‐responsive resistance with a stabilization plateau at stiffening onset, revealing alignment‐assisted charge transport and advancing

A bioinspired strain‐adaptive ligament‐bone architecture achieves record‐high energy density of 26.1 J cm−3 and 90% efficiency at 600 MV m−1, coupled with a Young's modulus of 2.13 GPa. ABSTRACT Polymer dielectrics for capacitive energy storage face fundamental trade‐offs between breakdown strength, energy density, efficiency, and mechanical robustness.

The safety of water fluoridation
The Journal of the American Dental Association, 1977This article disputes claims of anti-fluoridationists linking water fluoridation with Down’s syndrome, cardiovascular disease, cancer in humans and animals, and other conditions. Controlled fluoridation of community water has been shown to be the most effective public health measure in reducing caries.

IT IS a professional truism that prevention is preferable to treatment for any disease. The simple expedient of fluoridating communal water supplies offers effective prevention of the most common disease in our nation-dental decay, which affects over 95% of our population.
