Water Supply Management Index

open access: yesWater
One of the limiting factors in the implementation of water resource management is the absence of tools that help water programs evaluate processes and progress. This is because, until now, the indicators that have been developed have not addressed specific local characteristics and issues.

A Generalized Water Quality Index for Taiwan [PDF]

open access: yesEnvironmental Monitoring and Assessment, 2004
By exploring the behavior and limitations of conventional methods for quality evaluation, a better overall index for water quality in Taiwan and its application in Keya River are proposed. The thirteen variables are employed for the quality assessment.

The Photochemical Reflectance Index (PRI) as a water-stress index

open access: yesInternational Journal of Remote Sensing, 2002
Measurements of leaf reflectance in two narrow wavelength bands centred around 531 and 570 nm were carried out during withering of two contrasting functional and structural plant types: Chenopodium quinoa (Willd.) and Arbutus unedo (L.). The Photochemical Reflectance Index (PRI)=( R 531 - R 570 )/ ( R 531 + R 570 ) was calculated.

Salmonellae as an Index of Pollution of Surface Waters [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Microbiology, 1972
Screening enrichments of surface water specimens by means of a polyvalent fluorescent antibody reagent for the salmonellae yielded approximately 60% more positive specimens than was obtained by cultural procedures. It is not known what fraction of the excess of fluorescent antibody-positive over culturally positive specimens represents ...
