In this chapter, we discuss the formulation of WQI that have been used by DOE, Malaysia to measure the quality of the river as well as drinking water in Malaysia. We begin with the elaboration on all six parameters that will used in the formulation later.

Stochastic water quality index
Environmental Technology Letters, 1982Abstract A Stochastic Water Quality Index (SWQI) is proposed and its use in assessing water quality in the Linggi River in Malaysia is shown. The SWQI provides for the first time an approach for developing an index which incorporates the probabilistic water quality entities.

2018 International Conference on Inventive Research in Computing Applications (ICIRCA), 2018
As indicated by various Organization, water pollution executes around 1.2 Million deaths in India Every Year. None of the Indian cities compiles with water quality standard provided by World Health Organization. Water Pollution is the single greatest natural wellbeing hazard.

This layer presents the Water Poverty Index (WPI) in 141 countries around the world. The WPI is a water management tool that expresses an interdisciplinary measure which links household welfare with water availability and indicates the degree to which water scarcity impacts on human populations.

A Water Quality Economic Index
Water Quality Research Journal, 1974Abstract A methodology is presented for producing a water quality economic index which will provide information on the direction and the amount of change in water quality on a regional and a national basis. It will be useful for evaluation of water quality trends and for economic decision making regarding preventive measures and ...

Water Quality Indexing and Scoring
Journal of the Environmental Engineering Division, 1980The desirability of developing water quality indices, which has been frequently cited, is examined. The development of currently available indexes are reviewed and a distinction is made between the indexing and scoring of water quality samples. It is pointed out that many indexes are, in fact, scoring methods, and that the mathematical basis for the ...

Simplifying the Water Poverty Index
Social Indicators Research, 2009In this paper, principal components methodology is used to derive simplified and cost effective indexes of water poverty. Using a well known data set for 147 countries from which an earlier five-component water poverty index comprising of Resources, Access, Capacity, Use and Environment was constructed, we find that a simplified three-component ...

Water Quality Index and Status
2011This chapter includes a methodology for determining the water quality status of a river. The water quality of the Yamuna River is described using indirect and direct methods. The indirect method is based on various water quality indices (WQI), whereas the direct method uses water quality data at various locations on the river.

Refractive Index Mysteries of Water
The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2000Even though the refractive index is dominated by single molecule effects, such as the polarizability, there are some aspects of this property for water that are different from the refractive index behavior of most other liquids. Here, we discuss, then explain, these differences in terms of a two-state bonding model for this liquid.

Redefining the Water Poverty Index
Water International, 1998The Water Poverty Index (WPI) of arid and semiarid climatic zones is redefined by introducing the contribution of rainfed agriculture into WPI calculations and by making the WPI equation account for diversities in climatic conditions within arid and semiarid zones and for recycled household water used in irrigation.
