Forecasting Water Levels of Catalan Reservoirs
2019Reservoirs are largely natural or artificial lakes used as a source of water supply for society daily applications. However, reservoirs are limited natural resources which water levels vary according to annual rainfalls and other natural events. Therefore, prediction techniques are helpful to manage the water used more efficiently.

Water Level Measurement Device
2020In order to detect water level information accurately, a new sensing technology based on capacitance sensing principle is adopted. A long rectangle metal sheet is inserted into the water. When the water level changes, the parasitic capacitance of the metal sheet will change.

AN INSTRUMENT WAS DESIGNED TO INDICATE ANY CHANGE IN THE UNDERGROUND WATER LEVEL. THE DESIGN APPROACH WAS TO USE THE CONDUCTIVITY OF THE WATER AS THE SENSING MECHANISM, SINCE ONLY A SMALL AMOUNT OF CURRENT FLOW THROUGH THE WATER IS REQUIRED TO GENERATE A USEABLE SIGNAL. AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS OF USE, THE ALUMINUM ELECTRODES WERE BADLY CORRODED.
