The effect of agility exercise on eicosanoid excretion, oxidant status, and plasma lactate in dogs

open access: yesBMC Veterinary Research, 2012
Background The objective was to determine the effects of agility exercise on dogs of different skill levels with respect to urinary eicosanoids, urinary 15F2t-isoprostane (lipid peroxidation marker) and hematological/biochemical changes in plasma ...

Principles and practice of parenteral nutrition in the neonatal period.

open access: yesActa Médica Portuguesa, 1997
In extremely preterm or critically ill infants, the parenteral route for maintaining nutritional integrity has to be relied upon before successful transition to the enteral route of feeding is achieved.

Fluid Balance Variations During the Early Phase of Large Hemispheric Stroke Are Associated With Patients' Functional Outcome

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2019
Background: From the variety of factors underlying the ischemia-associated edema formation in large hemispheric stroke (LHS), an increased brain water content during the early phase seems to have a pivotal role for long-lasting tissue damage.

Insensible Water Loss and Metabolic Rate in Low Birthweight Newborn Infants [PDF]

open access: yesPediatric Research, 1979
Summary: Insensible water loss (IWL) and metabolic rate (MR) were measured simultaneously in three groups of low birthweight (LBW) infants in a special incubator with air and wall temperature separately controlled as to keep the infants in their neutral thermal environment. Group I infants (n = 7) had a birthweight of 1.125 ± 0.192 kg and a gestational

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.
