Fram Strait and Greenland Sea transports, water masses, and water mass transformations 1999–2010 (and beyond) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, 2016
AbstractThe exchanges between the Nordic Seas and the Arctic Ocean are important for the ocean circulation and climate. Transports are here estimated using summer hydrographic data from the Greenland Sea and the Fram Strait. Geostrophic transports are computed from hydrographic sections at 75°N in the Greenland Sea and at about 79°N in the Fram Strait.

The Influence of Summer Cyclonic Circulation in the Southern Gulf of California on Planktonic Copepod Communities

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
This study evaluated how the summer circulation pattern in the Southern Gulf of California influences copepod communities. The evaluation was based on hydrographic data and zooplankton samples collected during a multidisciplinary research cruise ...

Anthropogenic carbon and water masses in the Bay of Biscay

open access: yesCiencias Marinas, 2011
As part of the VACLAN (Climate Variability in the North Atlantic) project, a section covering the Bay of Biscay was sampled in September 2005. This work estimates the distribution of the different water masses in the region using an extended optimum ...

Multi-scale ocean variability in the Ibiza Channel over 14-year repeated glider missions

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
The increasing capability of multi-platform observing systems has enabled the better understanding of the wide-ranged spatio-temporal ocean variability and its implications for ocean biogeochemistry and marine life.

Isothermal Water Mass in the Bottom Water at the Bay Mouth of Jiaozhou Bay Isothermal Water Mass Existence

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2020
Abstract Based on the survey data of Jiaozhou Bay in May, June, July, August, September and October 1980, the bottom water temperature and its horizontal distribution in Jiaozhou Bay were studied. The results show that the bottom water temperature of Jiaozhou Bay ranged between 10.18°C-25.72°C in May, June, July, August, September and ...

Water and mass balances [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
This chapter highlights the importance of the concept of water and mass balances, which are key elements for understanding the behaviour of a treatment plant. The concepts of steady state and dynamic state, which influence the structuring of mass balances and the interpretation of data, will be presented.

Phase Angle as an Early Functional Biomarker of Cancer‐Related Fatigue in Pediatric Oncology: A Prospective Longitudinal Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Pediatric cancer remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, particularly in low‐and middle‐income countries. Cancer treatment may impair nutritional status, alter body composition, and exacerbate cancer‐related fatigue (CRF).

Water masses in the Atlantic Ocean: water mass ages and ventilation

open access: yes
Abstract. The distribution of oceanic water masses and their properties, such as ventilation constitute fundamental parameters, for instance, the thermohaline circulation patterns and biogeochemical processes in the marine systems.  The distributions of main water masses in the Atlantic Ocean have been comprehensively documented in a companion study ...

Effectiveness of Resistance Intradialytic Exercise Compared to Aerobic Intradialytic Exercise for Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis commonly experience reduced physical function, fatigue, poor sleep quality, and impaired health‐related quality of life. Intradialytic exercise has been proposed as a non‐pharmacological strategy to improve these outcomes.
