Water Mist Fire Suppression Systems
2016This chapter addresses the engineering of fixed fire suppression systems that discharge water mist. The term water mist, as currently understood in the fire protection field, relates to fine water sprays with no drops larger than 1.0 mm, or 1000 μm (micrometers or microns) [1, 2]. Such sprays are not true mists, however.

Blast Mitigation Using Water Mist
2006Abstract : A series of experiments demonstrating the mitigation of water mist on the over-pressure effects of a TNT detonation have been conducted A series of TNT charges, 0.9 kg (2 lb), 2.2 kg (5 lb) and 3.2 kg (7 lb), were detonated both with and without employing a water mist system.

Doubts and Water Droplets in Mist Therapy
Pediatrics, 1969One can have only high regard for the dedicated effort that Matthews and his group put forth to help children with cystic fibrosis. Yet with all this one cannot accept some of the thought which is embodied in this quotation from their recent paper.1 "For therapy, the nebulizer must provide a particle size which will result in deposition at the site of ...

Fire Suppression and Water Mist Systems
Library & Archival Security, 2008Fire suppression systems are an integral component in any fire protection plan, and selecting the right one requires an understanding of the operations and benefits of each. The systems most prevalent in libraries and archives include traditional water sprinklers with wet or dry piping, gaseous systems such as FM 200 and, most recently, water mist ...

Water Mist Machinery Space Fire Doctrine
2004Abstract : While the Halon 1301 fire suppression systems installed in machinery spaces are very effective, environmental regulations have essentially prohibited the use of these systems for future ships. A high-pressure water mist system was developed as an environmentally friendly alternative for conventional Halon 1301 systems.

Explosion mitigation by water mist
2010The internal explosion of an anti-ship missile or stored ammunition is a potentially catastrophic threat for a navy vessel. These events generally cause heavy blast loading and fragments to perforate the ship structure. As a solution to reduce the blast loading, the compartment can be filled with water mist prior to the explosion. TNO Defence, Security
