Pollution and Health Risk Evaluations from Gross Radioactivity in Drinking Waters in Reyhanlı District, Hatay

Water, Air, & Soil Pollution, 2022
The natural gross radioactivity concentrations in drinking water collected from the Reyhanli District, Hatay, were measured. The gross alpha/beta radioactivity levels were measured in August 2021. A proportional counter was used to determine gross alpha/beta radioactivity levels in drinking waters.

Surface water radioactive pollution in South Yakutia anthropogenic landscapes

Contemporary Problems of Ecology, 2010
The Propadayushchii Brook that drains the radioactive waste piles at the Kurung-1 site (mine 2) of the Yuzhnoe deposit serve as an illustration of our studies of the chemical composition and assessment of the radioactive pollution level of surface waters in the Elkon uranium ore-bearing region in the territory of South Yakutia.

Concentration of Cs in plants and water resulting from radioactive pollution

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 2014
Abstract The consumption of plants cultivated in soils contaminated by radioactive cesium can lead to internal exposure and health problems in humans. It is therefore very important to clarify the uptake mechanism of radioactive cesium from contaminated soils.

Research on underground water pollution caused by geological fault through radioactive stratum

Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, 2012
The earthquakes cause appearance of new geological fault and dislocation of rock stratum; the original permeable rock breaks, then the fault can conduct water under the effect of pressure; the stratum with radionuclide is dislocated and connected to the water-conducting fault under the effect of the fault.

Radioactive factors in water pollution

The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 1962
AbstractThis paper is primarily concerned with the introduction of radionuclides into bodies of water as a result of nuclear reactor operations. When radioactive materials are dispersed in surface waters, several factors such as water usage and biological concentration in human food chains must be considered.

Efficient Removal of Cationic and Anionic Radioactive Pollutants from Water Using Hydrotalcite-Based Getters

ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, 2016
Hydrotalcite (HT)-based materials are usually applied to capture anionic pollutants in aqueous solutions. Generally considered anion exchangers, their ability to capture radioactive cations is rarely exploited. In the present work, we explored the ability of pristine and calcined HT getters to effectively capture radioactive cations (Sr(2+) and Ba(2+))

Dispersion of radioactive pollution in surface water

Ecological Modelling, 1984
Abstract A mathematical description of the dispersion of radioactive pollution in surface water is presented based on a discussion of the phenomena, which influence it. A differential equation in the general form is obtained and simplified to give the most convenient solution for the investigation of radioactive doses during normal operation of the ...
