Optimization of some fermentation conditions for bioethanol production from microalgae using response surface method

open access: yesBulletin of the National Research Centre, 2019
Background Algal biomass fermentation is one of the promising alternatives for bioethanol production. The bioethanol yield relies on fermentation conditions as the algal biomass amount, the yeast volume (% v/v), and the fermentation time.

Acidity of Rain and Fog: Conceptual Definitions and Practical Measurements of Acidity

open access: yesCHIMIA, 1985
Conceptual definitions are applied to the measurement of acidity and pH. A reliable method is described, and the use of Gran plot titrations as a diagnostic tool in rainwater and fogwater analysis is shown.

Interstitium‐Mimicking Porous Alveolar Membranes Enable Physiologic Aerosol Transport and Distinct Acute‐Chronic Lung Injury Responses

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An interstitium‐mimicking membrane combines three‐dimensional alveolar geometry, high pore interconnectivity, and mechanical compliance to overcome transport limitations of conventional lung‐on‐chip barriers. The resulting platform supports physiologic aerosol transport, quantitative analysis of cross‐barrier particle movement, and reveals divergent ...

Motif Editing for Reaction Pathway Switching From Formate to CO in Single‐Atom Indium Catalysts via Adjacent Carbon Site Manipulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents manipulation of adjacent carbon site in single‐atom indium catalysts via editing In‐N4 motif to In‐N2O2 for reaction pathway switching. Incorporation of O atoms leads to significant electron enrichment on the adjacent carbon sites surrounding the In‐N2O2 motif, which facilitates *COOH adsorption and CO formation with high selectivity.
