Mechanically Programmable DNA Hydrogel Microparticles for 3D Cellular Systems
DNA hydrogel microparticles are designed to exhibit controllable viscoelasticity and stiffness across three orders of magnitude from 30Pa$30 \,\mathrm{Pa}$ to 6.5kPa$6.5 \,\mathrm{kPa}$. They are uptaken into fibroblast spheroids where they are actively remodeled by cellular forces depending on their mechanical properties.

Derivation of near-optimal pump schedules for water distribution by simulated annealing
The scheduling of pumps for clean water distribution is a partially discrete non-linear problem with many variables. The scheduling method described in this paper typically produces costs within 1% of a linear program-based solution, and can incorporate ...

TEMPORAL IMPLICATIONS OF LIMITATIONS ON ANNUAL IRRIGATION WATER PUMPED FROM AN EXHAUSTIBLE AQUIFER
Economic losses caused by uncontrolled pumping of groundwater is of major concern on the Texas High Plains. A recursive linear programming model is used to evaluate various annual limitations on aquifer depletion.

COFs on MOFs: Layer‐by‐Layer Synthesis of MOF@COF Nanoparticles with Synergistic Adsorption
A layer‐by‐layer strategy enables the growth of crystalline covalent organic framework (COF) shells on metal–organic framework nanoparticles, creating core–shell structures with tunable porosity. Ordered interstitial mesopores are formed during shell growth, which are connected with the COF's intrinsic micropores, thereby enhancing water sorption. This

Optimal control of pumping at a water filtration plant using genetic algorithms
At many water filtration plants water is delivered by pumps from a clear water storage to nearby tanks in other parts of the water distribution system. The control of the pumps in terms of startup and shut-down is usually achieved by trigger levels based
