Wetlands and coastal water quality: Should wetland size matter? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Generally, wetlands are thought to perform water purification functions, removing contaminants as water flows through sediment and vegetation. This paradigm was challenged when Grant et al.

Coagulant recovery from water treatment residuals: a review of applicable technologies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Conventional water treatment consumes large quantities of coagulant and produces even greater volumes of sludge. Coagulant recovery (CR) presents an opportunity to reduce both the sludge quantities and the costs they incur, by regenerating and purifying ...

Inhibition of CDK9 enhances AML cell death induced by combined venetoclax and azacitidine

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The CDK9 inhibitor AZD4573 downregulates c‐MYC and MCL‐1 to induce death of cytarabine (AraC)‐resistant AML cells. This enhances VEN + AZA‐induced cell death significantly more than any combination of two of the three drugs in AraC‐resistant AML cells.

Awareness and the Demand of Safe Drinking Water Practices [PDF]

open access: yes
The demand for environmental goods is often low in developing countries. The major causes are awareness regarding the contamination of water and poverty, but less attention has been paid to the former reason. We use a household survey from Hyderabad city

Ecological trade-offs in shallow lake restoration: Assessing ecosystem responses to aquatic vegetation restoration and biomanipulation strategies against the background of fishing ban

open access: yesEcological Indicators
Aquatic vegetation planting is widely regarded as an effective measure to mitigate lake eutrophication. However, under fishing ban conditions, the absence of mechanisms to regulate fish populations may lead to unintended consequences for the lake ...

Water purification using ultrasound waves: application and challenges

open access: yesArab Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences, 2020
Due to the scarcity of water resources and the harmful effects of sewage on water bodies, water purification becomes an important issue. The application of ultrasonic waves is a novel technique developed for water purification.

Application of Motionless Mixer in Gas Purification – A case study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The lecture gives a review on the application of motionless mixers in gas purification, where wet dust separation is carried out by water circulation trough vertical tubes filled with FixMix(TM) motionless mixer elements.

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.
