A water quality index for lake beaches

Water Research, 1982
Abstract Discriminant analysis of ten years of data from seven beaches located on three lakes in Gatineau Park (Quebec) leads to a canonical vector accounting for most of the variability of the three microbial count variables recorded. This discriminant axis orders the beaches along a cline of increasing pollution.

Water Quality Index Using IOT

2018 International Conference on Inventive Research in Computing Applications (ICIRCA), 2018
As indicated by various Organization, water pollution executes around 1.2 Million deaths in India Every Year. None of the Indian cities compiles with water quality standard provided by World Health Organization. Water Pollution is the single greatest natural wellbeing hazard.

Determination of Urbanization Impact on Rain Water Quality with the Help of Water Quality Index and Urbanization Index

2010
Rain water quality is a vital factor for deciding whether the water is drinkable or not. But increase in urbanization could degrade the quality of rain water. In the present study, rain water was collected from different sampling locations near and far from urban centers.

Assessing water quality using water quality index and multivariate analysis

Environmental Earth Sciences, 2009
Groundwater is increasingly gaining significance as the main solution to the water supply problems in Ghana, especially in the rural areas. This study was conducted to determine which factors play significant roles in the hydrochemistry of groundwater from the southern Voltaian formation. Conventional graphical and multivariate statistical methods were

A probabilistic water quality index for river water quality assessment: a case study

Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, 2010
Available water quality indices have some limitations such as incorporating a limited number of water quality variables and providing deterministic outputs. This paper presents a hybrid probabilistic water quality index by utilizing fuzzy inference systems (FIS), Bayesian networks (BNs), and probabilistic neural networks (PNNs).

A Water Quality Index for River Management

Water and Environment Journal, 1989
ABSTRACTThe theoretical basis underlying the development of a new series of water quality indices is outlined. The main features of their development are the incorporation of legally adopted water quality standards and criteria and the inclusion of information on potential water use and toxic determinands directly within their structural format.

Comparative analysis of regional water quality in Canada using the Water Quality Index

Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, 2008
The Canadian Council of Ministers for the Environment (CCME) has developed a Water Quality Index (WQI) to simplify the reporting of complex water quality data. This science-based communication tool tests multi-variable water data against numeric water quality guidelines and/or objectives to produce a single unit-less number that represents overall ...
