Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

A Water Quality Prediction Model Based on Long Short-Term Memory Networks and Optimization Algorithms

open access: yesIEEE Access
Currently, the water environment is complicated, and the water quality factors are non-linear and non-stationary, so the accuracy of traditional water quality prediction model is restricted.

Prediction model of agricultural water quality based on optimized logistic regression algorithm

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2023
Aiming at the problem that the linear regression of the traditional linear water quality prediction model is not robust enough and the prediction accuracy cannot be guaranteed in the presence of interference, this paper proposes an agricultural water ...

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

A weather forecast model accuracy analysis and ECMWF enhancement proposal by neural network [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This paper presents a neural network approach for weather forecast improvement. Predicted parameters, such as air temperature or precipitation, play a crucial role not only in the transportation sector but they also influence people's everyday activities.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

A call for strategic water-quality monitoring to advance assessment and prediction of wildfire impacts on water supplies

open access: yesFrontiers in Water, 2023
Wildfires pose a risk to water supplies in the western U.S. and many other parts of the world, due to the potential for degradation of water quality. However, a lack of adequate data hinders prediction and assessment of post-wildfire impacts and recovery.

Lake water quality monitoring and prediction: natural attenuation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The Engineering Campus Lake in Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) receives urban run-off (non-point source) and treated wastewater (point source). The role of the lake as a natural attenuation plant will be assessed in this study by monitoring and ...
