Irrigation Restriction and Biomass Market Interactions: The Case of the Alluvial Aquifer [PDF]
The U.S. Geological Survey has determined that irrigation in Arkansas’ Delta is unsustainable. This study examines how irrigation restrictions would affect county net returns to crop production.

Water Infiltration and Redistribution in Soil Aggregate Packings
Aggregation of soil particles is crucial for water flow in the vadose zone. Recent studies demonstrated that the unsaturated water flow through an aggregate pair is controlled by the contacts between aggregates. In these studies, the hydraulic conductivity of an aggregate pair was calculated as the harmonic mean of the conductivities of one aggregate ...

The disordered growth of dendrites, corrosion, parasitic side reactions, slow de‐solvation kinetics, and inherent safety risks significantly hinder the practical deployment of conventional liquid electrolyte zinc‐ion batteries. In contrast, the novel PU‐EG+DMPA‐Zn polyurethane quasi‐solid‐state electrolyte, enriched with abundant polar functional ...

Nonlocal theory of area-varying waves on axisymmetric vortex tubes [PDF]
Area and axial flow variations on rectilinear vortex tubes are considered. The state of the flow is characterized by two dependent variables, a core area, and an azimuthal circulation per unit length, which vary in time and in distance along the length ...

Grain Boundary Space Charge Engineering of Solid Oxide Electrolytes: Model Thin Film Study
This study demonstrates unprecedented control of grain boundary electrical properties in solid electrolytes. Selective diffusion of cations through grain boundaries in thin films enables 12 orders of magnitude variation in ionic resistance, proving that systematic chemical modification of grain boundary electrical properties is feasible.

Efficiency and equity considerations in pricing and allocating irrigation water [PDF]
Economic efficiency has to do with how much wealth a given resource base can generate. Equity has to do with how that wealth is to be distributed in society. Economic efficiency gets far more attention, in part because equity considerations involve value

A mineral‐based supra‐nano amorphous ruthenium dioxide composite (a‐Ru0.5‐AM) was designed, achieving 97% broadband solar absorption. Under one sun, it reaches 87.91 ± 0.32 °C with a distinct thermal buffering effect that favors thermal confinement.
