Analysis of the effectiveness of calcium hydroxide removal with variation of technique and solvent vehicles

open access: yesIndian Journal of Dental Research, 2015
Context: Calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2) paste filling is largely used as intra-canal medication and can be combined with different vehicles. Removal of that paste should be preceded by obturation, to avoid the occurrence of apical microleakage.

Water as a Blood Model for Determination of CO2 Removal Performance of Membrane Oxygenators

open access: yesMembranes, 2021
CO2 removal via membrane oxygenators has become an important and reliable clinical technique. Nevertheless, oxygenators must be further optimized to increase CO2 removal performance and to reduce severe side effects.

Synthesis and Characterization of Graphene oxide Polydopamine Aerogels for Contaminant Removal in Water [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Graphene, a two dimensional nanomaterial with remarkable properties, often requires assembly into three dimensional (3D) macroscopic monoliths while retaining its intrinsic nanoscale properties for different functional applications including contaminant ...

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

Removal of antibiotics with different charges in water by graphene oxide membranes

open access: yesJournal of Water Reuse and Desalination, 2023
Antibiotics are a large group of emerging organic pollutants with low concentration levels in the water. The presence of antibiotics will affect the ecological environment and human health.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

A parametric evaluation of the removal as(III) and as(V) from aqueous water by red mud [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In the present study, removal of arsenide (As(III)) and arsenate As(V) ions from water/wastewater by adsorption on red mud is investigated. Laboratory experiments were carried out to analyze removal capacity of the adsorbents, to achieve adsorption ...
