Water quality and antibiotic resistance in the recreational waters

Bioresource Technology, 2023
The overuse and improper disposal of antibiotics results in antibiotic resistance. This raises concern over the presence of antibiotic resistant bacteria (ARB) in waterways and pose health risks of antibiotic resistant infections to water recreationists.

A water-resistant sunscreen

Clinical and Experimental Dermatology, 1977
Summary A new sunscreen, octyl dimethyl para-aminobenzoic acid in an ammonium acrylate/acrylate copolymer was tested under controlled conditions of salt-water swimming at a beach. It provided statistically significant protection when compared with two other currently available commercial products containing para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) and PABA ...

Mapping of Water Resistivity Using Pool Water

Moscow University Geology Bulletin, 2019
In the papers of G.E. Archie and V.N. Dakhnov were presented formulas of dependence between resistivity (or conductivity) of soil and that of porous water. Such dependence shows that we need to know water resistivity, that means its study at each fieldwork area.

A water-resistant speech processor

Cochlear Implants International, 2006
Cochlear implant systems are used in diverse environments and should function during work, exercise and play as people go about their daily lives. This is a demanding requirement, with exposure to liquid and other contaminant ingress from many sources. For reliability, it is desirable that the speech processor withstands these exposures.

Resistance of a water switch

The 33rd IEEE International Conference on Plasma Science, 2006. ICOPS 2006. IEEE Conference Record - Abstracts., 2006
Summary form only given. This paper re-examines the assumptions used in the Braginskii arc expansion model when it is applied, as by Martin, to water breakdown channels. In particular the electrical conductivity of water in the channel is allowed to vary with temperature and a more realistic radiation estimate is adopted.

CALIBRATED FORMATION WATER RESISTIVITY SENSOR

SPWLA 61st Annual Online Symposium Transactions, 2020
Abstract For every barrel of oil, about three to four barrels of water is produced. Water is part of every operation in upstream oil and gas: we produce it, we process it, we inject it. It affects our reserves because it may drive or sweep the oil out of the pores.

Calm-Water Resistance

2018
In Chap. 4 we reviewed the theory behind wave making by a hull as it moves through calm water, and the interactions between the demihulls of a catamaran. The theory is based on an incompressible inviscid fluid and applies to vessels in displacement mode.

Water Resistance of Neoprene

Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1937
Abstract Superior water resistance of well-cured Neoprene, like that of natural rubber, depends upon the absence of water-soluble ingredients and agents that are capable of absorbing water. It has been shown that the water resistance of Neoprene varies greatly with different activating agents.

Water Resistance and Durability of Weather-Resistive Barriers

Journal of ASTM International, 2006
Weather resistive barriers function as the second line of defense against water that has intruded past a building's cladding. Despite its importance, however, the evaluation of weather-resistive barrier water resistance performance is not conducted in a consistent manner across product types. Several different test methods that include vastly different
