Evaluation of bamboo water-retting for fiber bundle extraction

open access: yesTextile Research Journal, 2021
Bamboo fiber bundles were successfully extracted from bamboo culms using water-retting, taking advantage of enzymes secreted by microorganisms in the retting liquid. The harvest year and place of origin of the bamboo and the source of water impacted the products of the retting process.

Critical Factors for Optimum Biodegradation of Bast Fiber’s Gums in Bacterial Retting

open access: yesFibers, 2021
Bast fiber plants require a post-harvest process to yield useable natural cellulosic fibers, denoted as retting or degumming. It encompasses the degradation of the cell wall’s non-cellulosic gummy substances (NCGs), facilitating fibers separations ...

Physical parameters of dew retted and water retted hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) fibres [PDF]

open access: yesZemdirbyste-Agriculture, 2013
Even small additions of hemp fibres to fabrics result in sig nificantly higher surface resistance and increased heat sorption. The two major retting methods (dew retting and water retting) are used to extract fibbers for industrial uses. Both methods produce fibres of different quality.

Effect of Okra Plant Lifespan upon Optical Properties of Okra Fibers

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers, 2022
The present research study has been made to identify the effect of the okra plant lifespan upon the optical appearance of the yielded fibers. 90 ± 10 days, 120 ± 10 days, and 160 ± 10 days matured crop waste were subjected to two different retting ...

A study on pre-retting and post-retting water of waterbodies from a selected area of Bangladesh

open access: yesJOURNAL OF ADVANCES IN AGRICULTURE, 2014
The study was conducted to analyze the pre and post-retting water of five randomly selected ponds regarding the parameters viz. BOD5, COD, TSS, TDS, TKN, TP, CI, PH, Ec PH, and EC. BOD5 (ranging from 110 to 215 mg/l and 170 to 237 mg/l, respectively)and COD (227 mg/l to 310 and 299 to 403 mg/l, respectively)values of both pre and post-retting water of ...
