Characterization of radio frequency assisted water retting and flax fibers obtained
Industrial Crops and Products, 2015Abstract Water retting used to degrade pectin in the bast of plant, release and separate fibers normally takes one to two weeks. In this study, radio frequency (RF) was introduced to enhance the retting efficiency in different stages of water retting, and different RF treatment temperatures and durations were used.

Effect of Kenaf Water Retting Process by Bacillus cereus on the pH of Retting Water
Advanced Materials Research, 2014pH plays an important roles in retting process of kenaf. The aim of this study is to see the changes of retting water pH in the kenaf retting process with and without the use ofBacillus cereus. The retting process duration was one week. The pH of the water was taken daily during the retting period.

The Quality of Kenaf Retting Water After Retting Using Bacillus cereus for Fiber Extraction
2014The aim of this study was to compare the water quality of wastewater from kenaf retting process with and without the use of Bacillus cereus. The retting process duration was 1 week. The reading on temperature, pH, turbidity, dissolved oxygen (DO), Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), suspended solid (SS) and ammonical nitrogen

Exploitation of bacterial pectinolytic strains for improvement of hemp water retting
Euphytica, 2004Retting is the major limitation to an efficient production of textile hemp fibres. Traditional retting has been carried out by autochthonous bacterial community. Aerobic and anaerobic pectinolytic strains were isolated from hemp or flax sources and characterised.

Recent developments in retting of flax and disposal of the waste waters
Journal of the Society of Chemical Industry, 1946AbstractIn 1941 the Water Pollution Research Laboratory of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research was naked by the Ministry of Supply to advise on the treatment and disposal of waste waters from retting of flax at a number of factories in England and Scotland.

Chemical and physical characterization of water- and dew-retted flax fibers
Industrial Crops and Products, 2000Abstract The composition of dew-retted and water-retted flax fibers were evaluated by chemical and mass spectral analyses to determine their chemical differences. Phenolics, waxes, cutin, and carbohydrates were determined by gas liquid chromatography.

Extraction of Kittul Fibre by Urea Water Retting Process
Journal of Non Timber Forest Products, 2019Caryota urens, commonly known as Indian Sago palm, Wine palm, Toddy palm, Fish tail palm and Salap in Odia, is naturally found in almost all districts of Odisha. The palm produces three things, viz., fibre from leaf, sheath, frond and flowering stalk, drink from inflorescence stalk and sago from stem. The coarse fibre extracted mechanically by beating

Influence of water hardness on retting and properties of flax fibers
2014Bast fibres are separated from the non-fibre tissues in the plant stem by retting, and control of this process should produce a reliable and consistent quality of fibre. Water retting has been used for centuries and is known to produce the highest quality fibre.
