NeuroSuite for Long‐Term Functional and Structural Studies of Air‐Liquid Interface Cerebral Organoids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NeuroSuite provides a modular hardware‐software platform integrating Neuroweb and NeuroMaps to enable long‐term, in situ electrophysiological interrogation of air–liquid interface organoid slices while preserving tissue architecture. Its components can be used together or independently to capture real‐time activity, spatial network dynamics, and ...

Single‐Cell Dissection of Therapy‐Induced Remodeling Uncovers a Fibroblast‐Driven Immunosuppressive Niche and Targetable Vulnerabilities in Lethal Prostate Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Single‐cell longitudinal profiling reveals that androgen‐deprivation therapy induces a DPT+ fibroblast‐complement axis that suppresses macrophage inflammation and drives CD8+ T cell exhaustion in prostate cancer. Concurrently, resistant epithelial subpopulations persist and engage TSPAN1‐ and NRXN1‐mediated programs promoting CRPC and neuroendocrine ...

Aptamer‐Engineered Liposomal Platform Enables in Situ cDC1 Vaccination to Potentiate Immunotherapy in Prostate Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Prostate cancer is immunologically ‘cold’, with scarce, dysfunctional type 1 conventional dendritic cells (cDC1s) that limit T cell priming. We introduce an aptamer‐targeted liposomedelivering FMS‐like tyrosine kinase 3 ligand (Flt3L) and chlorin e6 (Ce6). Ultrasound induces antigen release and cDC1s recruitment, creating an in situ cDC1 vaccine.

Co‐Delivery of Sustained Release Chondroitinase ABC‐37 With Human iPSC‐Derived Neural Progenitors Promotes Transplant Survival and Functional Recovery in a Rodent Model of Stroke

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A regenerative strategy for stroke combines human stem cell–derived neural progenitor cells with sustained release of a matrix‐modifying, thermostable chondroitinase ABC‐37 enzyme. In a rat model of stroke, co‐delivery enhanced transplanted cell survival and neuronal differentiation, degraded inhibitory extracellular matrix components, and improved ...

Water security

2021
Abstract Today, the concept of security manifests itself in a number of forms in most scientific, social, environmental, and political issues. One of the most essential and prominent types of security issue faced today is water security, which has introduced a complex and new concept to the literature of today's world.

Water and Security

2021
The connections between a clean and accessible water supply for consumption and sanitation is a relatively new field of research. Prior to this recognition, scholars and policy analysts associated security with the protection of a nation’s borders and populations. Security implied a nation’s safety in military and diplomatic terms.

Water (in)security: securing the right to water

The Geographical Journal, 2014
This paper rereads debates over water security and insecurity through the tools of critical geographical scholarship. It seeks to demonstrate the value of such a critical perspective in achieving access to water for all. While rejecting a simplistic dismissal of mainstream discourses on water security, the paper notes the failure to adequately ...

Security of Water Infrastructure Systems

2009
This paper formulates the security problem in critical water infrastructure systems for diagnosing quality faults. The proposed scheme is based on the discretized equations of advection and reaction of contaminant concentrations in pipes and tanks, expressed in a state-space form.

Water Security, Food Security and the National Water Dependency

2018
Water requirements for food demand in Tunisia have more than tripled over the past four decades, and amount to more than 16 km3 in 2010. As the population has nearly doubled during the same period, water requirements for individual dietary recorded an increase from about 1050 m3/year/capita in the early 1970s to nearly 1600 m3/year/capita in the late ...

Water Security or Security of Water? A Conceptual Analysis

India Quarterly: A Journal of International Affairs, 2011
The present article tries to understand the concept of water security. What is the threshold beyond which water qualifies to be a security issue? Do our security concerns emanate from the conflictual interests emanating from demand and supply, riparian rights of the intra- or inter-state actors or the ownership of the resource?
