Multi-scenario simulation of water transfer impacts on water quality and ecological responses in the three gorges reservoir

open access: yesSustainable Futures
Inter-basin water transfer (IBWT) projects profoundly reshape hydrological and ecological processes, yet their integrated environmental impacts on large reservoir systems remain insufficiently quantified, particularly under low-flow conditions ...

Water, international peace, and security [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Review of the Red Cross, 2010
AbstractWater scarcity, accelerated by climate change, affects water availability and may threaten peace and security. This role of water, as a contributing factor for triggering wars, sheds light on the significance of the protection of water during armed conflict.

Game Theory for Secure Critical Interdependent Gas-Power-Water Infrastructure

open access: yes, 2017
A city's critical infrastructure such as gas, water, and power systems, are largely interdependent since they share energy, computing, and communication resources. This, in turn, makes it challenging to endow them with fool-proof security solutions.

Speckle‐Engineered Upconversion Amplification in Nanoemulsion‐Templated Hydrogel Microdomes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nanoemulsion‐confined PEGDA microdomes generate speckle‐like excitation fields that strongly amplify upconversion luminescence upon dehydration, enabling filter‐free visible readout with reversible on–off switching. DMD‐based lithography yields scalable, shape‐programmable arrays for moisture‐responsive displays and optical encryption.

Tissue‐Stimulator Platform for Electrically Stimulating Pancreatic β‐Cells for Long‐Term Functional Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a tissue‐stimulator platform for seamless electrode integration with pancreatic tissue, applying uniform electrical stimulation through optimized design with biohybrid 3D printing. Advantageous effects of electrical stimulation on β‐cell function were observed, including enhanced calcium signaling, islet morphology, and maturation.

Influence of the Middle Route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project on water balance in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region

open access: yesShui kexue jinzhan
The Middle Route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project (SNWDP-MR) significantly influences the water use patterns and hydrological cycle structure of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei(BTH) region.

Water Security and Services in the Caribbean [PDF]

open access: yesWater, 2013
The efficient management of water resources and services continues to be a concern in many of the small island states of the Caribbean. There are growing concerns over the ability of governments in the region to ensure the good management and provision of water without jeopardizing economic growth and the maintenance of social well-being.
