Drymoglossum under Water Stress

American Fern Journal, 1984
Drymoglossum is an epiphytic fern found commonly on the trunks of some local trees. It exhibits typical CAM features (Hew & Wong, 1974; Wong & Hew, 1976). It has fleshy fronds for storing water, but it is not uncommon to observe shrivelling of its fronds during dry spells. Different CAM plants seem to respond to drought differently. Under water stress,

WATER STRESS DOWN SOUTH

Journal of Experimental Biology, 2012
![][1] Life in Antarctica seems like it might be stressful for an insect because of the cold temperatures. But recent work by Nicholas Teets and his colleagues published in the Journal of Insect Physiology demonstrates that the lack of water in that habitat can also demand a ...

Water Stress During Freezing

1976
When the temperature drops below the freezing point, water becomes first supercooled and then is converted into ice. Plants, plant organs or cells exposed to subzero temperatures may or may not be damaged when freezing of intracellular water occurs. This depends both on the mode of freezing and on the nature or physiological state of the plant material.

Water and Microbial Stress

1981
Reference to a dictionary reveals that an object under stress is subjected to “demand upon energy” or is “constrained.” It is precisely these two aspects of microbial ecology that I have considered in this review, the stress being imposed by some factor directly associated with the water regime of the immediate environment.

Soil water balance and plant water stress

1998
The soil water balance is calculated in the DSSAT crop models in order to evaluate the possible yield reduction caused by soil and plant water deficits. The model evaluates the soil water balance of a crop or fallow land on a daily basis as a function of precipitation, irrigation, transpiration, soil evaporation, runoff and drainage from the profile ...
